Given to me by my vet's office:
Canine Meat 'n' Grain Menu 2 cups cooked brown rice 1/3 cup fatty meat 1/3 cup lean meat 1/4 cup grated veggies daily supplements as recommended Mix all ingredients together and serve slightly warm. Or, steam meat and veggies and then add rice and supplements. Yields 3 cups Daily Duo for Dogs Morning: Serve as a hot cereal. 1 1/2 cups cooked oatmeal 1 cup whole milk 1 tsp. honey Evening: Combine the ingredients and serve warm. 1 cup chopped, cooked potatoes 1/2 cup lean meat 1 tsp. oil 1 tbsp. grated or chopped vegetables daily suppled as recommended. Yields 4 cups Meat-Bean-Rice Dish for Dogs 1 3/4 cups cooked brown rice 1/3 cup lean meat 1/2 cup cooked beans (kidney, black, pinto, navy, or lima) 1/4 cup grated or chopped vegetables 1 1/2 teaspoons oil 1 tbsp nutritional yeast daily supplements as recommended Heat the rice, meat and beans together. Then mix in the rest of the ingredients and serve moderately warm. Yields about 2 2/3 cups. Vegetarian Two-Meal Plan Morning: Serve as a hot cereal. 1 1/2 cups cooked oatmeal 1 cup whole milk 1 tsp. honey Evening: Scramble together the eggs, soy protein isolate and supplements. Add the rest of the ingredients and serve. 2 medium eggs 2 teaspoons soy protein isolate (found in health food stores) daily supplements as recommended 2/3 cup cooked brown rice 2 tablespoons grated or chopped vegetables Eggs-Soy-Rice 2 1/2 ounces tofu (or 1/4 cup cooked soy grits) 2 medium eggs daily supplements as recommended 2 tbsps nutritional yeast 1/2 tsp oil 2 cups cooked brown rice 1/2 cup chopped or grated vegetables Scramble together the tofu, eggs, supplements, yeast and oil. Add rice and vegetables, along with any flavoring you have on hand, and serve. Potatoes au Canine 3 cups boiled, sliced potatoes 1/2 cup creamed cottage cheese 1 tbsp. nutritional yeast 1/4 cup whole milk 1/4 cup grated cheese daily supplements as recommended 2 tbsps grated or chopped vegetables Layer together the potatoes, cottage cheese, yeast and supplements in casserole dish. Pour milk over them and top with grated cheese. Broil or bake until cheese is melted and slightly brown (about 15 minutes at 350degrees F) Let cool. Serve vegetables on the side. Or, mix all ingredients together while potatoes are hot after cooking, allowing heat to melt in the cheese, then serve. Please feel free to add more recipes if you have any! I am looking for recipes that can be made in large quantities in the crock pot and frozen. |

Here is one I liked that I found online.
Chow Chicken 2 chicken breasts 3 carrots peeled and cut in half 1 stick of celery 2 small potatoes 2 cups of rice Put chicken in the pot. Add 5-6 cups of water. Add the carrots, celery, and potatoes. Cover and simmer on low for 2 hours. Add rice for 30 minutes. Remove liquid and pull of bone. Stir well. Freeze or refridgerate. |

Thankyou wish. I'm sure a lot of people will be making their own for a while now.
Just a note of caution for people if you've got Persian cats or Persian cross Himalayans. My Persian kitty could not eat any vegetables at all and my Himalayan/moggie cross couldn't eat them either. No idea if it's like that with all Persians or not. I gathered it must have been from what the vet said. . |
