Question this eagle is large...

I think it is a female. But it is hard to say if it is the original one.

they were just mating. is that a good sing for the eggs or a bad one...or did he just forget when valentine's day was?

I guess this answers the question of weather it was a female or not
.

I'm confused about this whole thing now. If the eggs are somehow, someway still viable, why are they mating?
.
Does that mean the eggs are doomed? I just with the original mom and dad would come back and they live happily ever after. But it's dark, the temperature is dropping, and no one is in the nest.

that's what i was wondering. but if the eggs are not viable..then the mating was a good thing.
