Lightbulb The female at Norfolk was just sleeping...
sleeping and taking a big nap for about an hour.

I've only caught one other nap attack, the male on the nest during the
first clutch (which was lost).

It can't be easy sitting on the nest for soooooo long!

which is very close to Norfolk, BTW...has updated their blog.

This blog gives very interesting information, including pictures of an eagle fight
between an adult and a juvenile .... We have seen areal displays of eagles fighting or practicing over our summer home like this!

They explain the chick behaviors in detail, and offer many interesting
pieces of data not found elsewhere!

Our Eagles at Norfolk lost their eggs yesterday.

Both eggs are lost again!

They are hoping for another clutch.

It's like Mama Eagle doesn't realize her own strength..comes in for a hard landing on top of the eggs and BOOM, there they go
.


At least they're reported as "still doin it"....so there's still hope for babies this yr.

Arrow The Blackwater chicks...
are doing very well.... I am watching the Mom feed them right now.

They are starting to get their second color chick down in...it is darker
gray... and they are noticeably larger and better coordinated.
.


I feel sad about Norfolk...that nest has been empty all day! sigh!
