Ooo OH....NO..... Baby eagle is ill---

It has been noted that there is a growth on the eaglet's bill.

.

Thursday they are going to climb up, retrieve him, and check him out.

Avian pox?

.

pretty awful.... no treatment?

The word is that the procedure to remove the eaglet will begin at 9am on Thursday.
He will be examined and if the biologists decide...may NOT be returned to the nest. He may
go to a rehab place instead. The chat room at WVEC will have a special event stream beginning
at 9am Thursday.
.

Let's cross our fingers for a speedy recovery. (and that he won't have to be separated from
his parents).

Unhappy update....

The details about the eaglet can be found here:

.

He/she was removed from the nest, and sent to a rehab center for
diagnosis and treatment. This was necessary to protect the parents from
contagion, and to help the chick whose beak tumor was growing very fast
and interfering with his breathing.

The cam is over for this season. It is still on, probably waiting to see
parents' reactions to the loss. Right now the nest is empty and no sign
of the parents.
