That is a great article... I'll pass it along to our cat friends.
Weezie squeals ... a high pitched Wheeeeeeee.... since we got her at 8 wks. Hence her name. She rarely vocalizes except for some trills when asked a question or when she wants something. Rarely meows. Weezie rarely meows... she will do that in the car however. She actually screamed at me near the end of our long trip home from our upNorth location. She had fallen asleep and woke up still in her carrier, and belted me with the most awful screetch... as if to say..."Aren't we there YET?!!" Scared the beejeebers out of me! I hope that trick is forgotten by next summer. Maya is the talker here. New sounds of rooowwrrrororrr ooo . ouuuuuuut. This sounds very much like words in fact. Like tomcats sometimes do. This started in the car coming home too. She did it last weekend when hubby went outside...she ran after him doing this sound!(she does not go out) She also has an "eh! eh!" she makes if you ask her a question. When we are giving her food or her treat she sometimes "sings" a little cat song. She will also make a loud clicking sound....when agitated or surprised. Some of her vocalizations sound like a ventriloquist, like she is "throwing her voice" ..it tends to echo and seem to come from another direction. We've never had a cat do this sound before...it surprises us still. In the past our cats tended to be very quiet types. These new youngun's are really unique. Maya is from the UP of Mich... a feral farm colony. So maybe the UPers strain of feline, we have now have these different communication sounds?

My calico cat Cali howls when she wants to go outside. I don't let my cats outside, so I have to bribe her with Beachside Crunch to get her away from the door.
My torte cat Snickers has this sweet little meow when she's hungry or just want to snuggle. Her tail starts to twitch too when she gets nervous. |

I really enjoyed the kitten video... so I started to look around
on YouTube and found this cat family.... . 5 kittens, mom, and father also 20minutes of a good kitten "fix" It is really interesting to see the male favoring the little male kitten that looks most like him. It is really cute and interesting to watch them grow throughout the video. .
