If you leave Karel's cam open, you can hear his voice like a radio over at the other tabs. That's is what I am doing now.

All three are now fledged and out of the nest.

All look good. E1 and E2 are on a building roof. And E3 is in a tree. The birders on the ground are festive and happy.

Luckily it is Saturday and they(volunteers) can get these videos for us.

We had screeing hawk calls yesterday here too.
I wonder if there is a nest near us? Must be but we didn't

Karel is explaining last night's activity in summary.

Seems they were all very busy!

He thinks also, that Mom bringing the branch was a message
to the chicks that there is where the parents want to feed them.

It must be hard for the parents to fly all over to find them, etc.
This morning E1 and E2 are eating on the building roof.
Must take alot of energy and effort to find the chicks every day.

E3 has been crying for food all day....parents not feeding.

He flew to the glass greenhouse and the upper window which was on automatic, came closed and squashed him. The livestream ended and there is no word yet as to if the injury is serious.
There is a rehabber there and Vet from Cornell.

I can not find any updates at this time. The parents wanted him to fly up to where the other two chicks are on the building, but maybe E3 is too hungry and/or weak. So now E3's fate is not known.

nothing is being posted on twitter or on the main cam, and the main chat is closed until 4pm.

Just waking up here to a cool Monday morning.
There's a msg on their twitter page from 15 minutes ago saying E3 is on the greenhouse and a licensed rehaber and others are standing by although from the other site they seem to be saying that everything should be OK. Still hasn't been fed from what I can gather.

Such a populated area. I came across some old blog yesterday regarding the fate of last years birds.
Seems the first year of life for these birds is pretty darn tough.

Yes, the parents essentially starve the chicks into drastic
actions from what I have seen on this cam.

Early this morning Ezra and BR got into a huge physical fight over prey that BR was catching at the base of the old nest. He has been rather scarce today as a result. It was a nasty fight and at first the birders thought he was an intruder.

Poor E3 is the smallest and last egg laid. So perhaps BR doesn't think he will survive anyway so is starving him? Like cats and dogs fail to feed the runts of the litter?

I watched the whole thing. It was disturbing IMO. E3 moved off the safe old greenhouse and went to the other hoping a flat surface would bring food. Instead it brought doom.

I hope the rehab people catch him today, and save him and then release him when he is well. Almost 4 hrs of screaming for food. Even E1 took up the cry for him! E1 and E3 were friends in the nest, kissing and preening each other. It was stressful to watch today, and I finally stopped because I couldn't take the crying anymore.

If rehabbed...who will teach him to hunt however? That is the question.

Oh, good! I am so worried... I worked myself up into a huge
stomach ache. I have a heating pad on and I am
Lying in bed with my phone. Sigh.

Today I felt so sad for the little guy. Whew!

I guess if a bird gets in trouble, being at Cornell is
very handy at least.

I was worried he was dehydrated because his last
Evacuation before the incident was very
Small--scant. I just checked their update link
too, and the rehabber stated he was small.
Maybe too small to make it in the wild? Maybe he
Will have a different future as an educational tool?
