Here is an update on E3's surgery and progress.

.

The injury was more extensive than expected, so it will be a long recovery for him. (many bone fragments and a ruptured muscle).

The other two fledglings are on the roof of a building close by and
seem to be doing okay.

I hope all will turn out for the best. But they are mentioning here and there about E3 becoming an "educational bird".
Perhaps this will be a good outcome too.

There is a message up on the Cornell site today that the chat will be closing for the season, on June 22. It does not mention the
cam itself, but I do think they are both included.

E1 and E2 remain far away on the building next to the gardens.
It is difficult to see them. So it is understandable that following them is difficult too.

E3 needed more surgery.
Pins were not replaced.

Oh, thanks, Lara. I really favored E3... watching him that last
week in the nest with E1, after E2 had accidently fledged.

There were friendly moments between them, and a kind of intimacy that was not present before. So I do believe he has a nice "personality" at the Vet's. I was watching when the accident happened...it was very disturbing. But it seems he will have a life now irregardless of whether he can fly after recovery. I think he'd make a wonderful educational bird/tool for the public and schools, and I think they are already thinking about that since it was mentioned twice already.;)

Oh, Thanks for that photo... I will keep it on my computer to admire always... He is a remarkable bird...I hope he survives and fulfills a wonderful path in life.

That link that Lara found for us, has a long history of photos going back to the building of the nest, snow around the eggs, and newly hatched chicks! Great stuff!
