Shocked Cars and snakes

This is like one of my worst nightmares -

Funny story and video about a young woman who saw a snake getting up under her car. She didn't want to be late for work so she got in the car and started driving.
.

She thought it was a harmless tree snake for some reason even though it was black with a red belly LOL
.
That's the part I think is funny. Turned out to be a venomous red bellied black snake.

.

The snake catcher caught it and it was released later. Beautiful snake too.

Yikes! That was a l-o-n-g snake!

I am so thankful it wasn't harmed and was set free in a safe area. If he had gotten into the car with the driver this would have been disastrous.

I'm scared of snakes just like the next person but I hate to see them killed for no reason other than a human being scared. The driver did the right thing and wasn't trying to over-react.

And now I am SO glad I don't drive anymore!!

Great clip Lara

A while ago I almost trod on a Red-bellied Black Snake when walking in the Blue Mountains - I don't know who was the most startled...

Kiwi, I'm very glad you didn't stand on it. There would be a lot of snakes there. Same here especially up in the Hinterland when it's really hot in summer. I've seen a lot but never a red bellied black. It's the brown snakes that worry me the most and they're very difficult to see. When I was very young I had a snake bite kit can you believe it. Would be museum piece these days.
.
It didn't even contain a bandage. When I think about that now it was the most dangerous thing possible because it would have just spread the poison.

Lara, I hear you about Brown Snakes.

A couple of years ago my partner and I did a camping trip. We were organising breakfast when I noticed something - she was about to sit on a Brown Snake - not a good plan.

I quietly told her to move away and the Brown Snake went about its business - breakfast and the rest of the trip was enjoyable and uneventful
