That is spectacular news!! I'm so happy for you. :D You usually see this kind of thing only on TV. Here's a real-life testament to microchipping.

Thanks everybody :grouphug:. I am feeling very happy.

At risk of being a bit self-indulgent, here is Susie having dinner (fresh chicken) - she was too busy eating to show her face.

Lara 02-14-2016 10:09 PM

Thanks for the photo. I bet she's glad to be back home at last.

Littlepaw 02-14-2016 10:21 PM

A
.
she's got "tortitude". That's what our local shelter says about the torties, as they find them full of spirit. Susie must have it in spades to have made it through her big adventure. :)

Kiwi, the photo's not self indulgent at all. We are all so happy for you! It's great to see her home and eating well.

No, Kiwi, the photo is not self-indulgent at all. Susie is beautiful and seems to have come through her adventure in surprising condition. Nothing like a nice plate of chicken!

Dave.

Sadly, I must update this.

Susie died a couple of days ago.

She lost all interest in food for about 14 days (I suspect cancer cachexia though the Dx is not important). She spent most of her time on a blanket on my bed. I kept her warm and safe but when I realised that I could not do any more the vet came round and did what was needed.

I buried Susie with some of her best things, cried a lot and put a good fern over her which will guard her. She was my best non-human mate for more than 20 years.

The vet was lovely - she told me that, when I feel up to it, they have lots of kittens which need good homes. I will probably take her up on that.

Sorry about the emotion dump.

I'm so sorry kiwi. :(

That's very sad news. Take care of yourself. Sending big hug (((kiwi)))

I am so sorry, Kiwi... I know how painful losing good friends can be. We lost 3 elderly cats in a row 5 yrs ago.

When Tippy died (the 3rd) I went right away to get a new
kitten....Weezie. It was the best way for me to deal with my grief.

Your kitty was very lucky to have you as a friend as well. Focus on that aspect too.

Dear Kiwi,

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Susie. I know your heart must be very tender right now.

What a blessing that Susie made it home from her adventures to spend time with you and enjoy the end of her life in relative comfort and in the company of the one who has loved her so much. I am glad that you had that time together. It was a gift.

Be gentle with yourself and know that we understand. It is no emotion dump at all. It is hard to lose a member of your family.

I am sending many thoughts of comfort to shore you up this week,

Thank you all :grouphug:.

I really appreciate all of your care and concern.
