Default Animals and fires

The bushfire season has been bad here.

This one is a happy story about how both wild animals and pets have been treated for their burns.

I was so sad when I saw it last night, I couldn't reply right away but I did want to say that there are so many generous and caring people who do so much to help. Volunteers never stop working and they're very special people.

I was reminded of the Victorian bushfires years back and Sam the Koala. That photo of the firefighter giving Sam a hand and a bottle of water is etched in my mind still. Sam survived but sadly passed on some time later from disease. I just went looking for the photo and I'll post that below. It's amazing especially considering the circumstances and the fact that she was an animal in the wild, not in a wildlife sanctuary or zoo.

Lara, I cried a bit when I looked at the story. I was particularly affected by the picture of the worried-looking possum

Volunteers are amazing people - the vets who worked for free and the support that they got from their local community.

I had not come across Sam the Koala before - thanks for sharing. The care and concern on the face of the CFA guy is just so obvious.
