Cool Smirk Sparrowhawk

On Sunday there was a flurry of wings outside my window, followed by an almighty, screeching commotion! A male Sparrowhawk had taken a Starling just in the corner of my eye, then landed on my path. We watched, transfixed, the battle for life which went on for 5 minutes before dispatch - this may seem callous, but it is simply the sheer power and majesty of Nature, no different than watching a Lion Documentary on Discovery.

After the 'deed', I got out my digital camera - first time in over 2 years - and blurrily snapped off a dozen shots. I can hardly see the photos myself, but everyone else is impressed. He was a magnificent Bird.

Dave.
