Wink Julie Zickefoose's Baby Birds book:

This is a new book, just out filled with wonderful stories about birds, baby birds, and nesting behaviors.

The art is sensitive and impressive. I found news about this book in a birding magazine, then searched it on Amazon and found a reasonable price for such a heavy tome with so many color
reproductions.

The text is wonderful to read.

This is Julie's blog:

For any readers here interested in birds, and their "babies", this book is a wonderful resource. But beware, this book is really heavy in weight. I have to prop it up carefully.

examples of her art there.. since I also do birds' nest art, I find these really interesting.

It is still early to expect this new book at a local library, but I suspect many libraries will
have it eventually.

Thanks mrsD - it looks good

I have ordered it from Amazon. It is also available from the Book Depository with a whole AUD 0.21 difference in price for me though that could just be an AUD:USD exchange effect.

Wink

I think you will enjoy this book, Kiwi.

I am still in the early stages of this wonderful book.
The stories about wrens and Julie's experience with those
birds really struck a chord with me.

We had 2 wrens enter our home when hubby came in the back door one winter, as he returned from a business trip.
It was almost Xmas. I had a stained glass wall sconce, by the door which is part of our enclosed porch. I had a bird's nest in it and a fake egg. We did not notice 2 wrens huddled in it. I really don't know how long they roosted there. He startled them in the dark and they flew thru the door as he opened it. We opened both doors and shooed them out finally. And like Julie's wren they seemed to understand how to leave. We later found how they got into the porch...a tiny hole at the top of one of the screens!

We never see wrens in winter..so were very surprised.
