I am doing some drawings of seagulls based on my photos from our summer home. I decided to see if I could find any with the beaks open on Google so I could modify my own.
I ran across this photo which I thought was very interesting: I am sure it is copyrighted so I will just give the link here: . We put out popped popcorn or old stale food that we don't want to eat out on our rocky shore...the gulls take it in minutes. One funny day, I had a sausage included, but it was not cut up. Two gulls ended up at each end trying to swallow it whole. I really had wished I had my camera then as it was quite a fight, so now I try to always have it when we put out food. In the old days, before I had my camera... we'd call the cats, "Big Birds" come for "Big Birds". We had a ginger and white female a long time ago and she would be really eager to to creep up on them when we tossed the popcorn into the water. She'd shimmy thru the boat at the dock and watch them avidly on the water side or stern. Those days were before our son was born. Our late Oreo liked this event too. But of course the birds never let them get close enough to be a risk.

Thanks mrsD - how amazing
. . I celebrated the arrival of spring here by having fish and chips at the beach. Watching the gulls have free and frank exchanges of views over ownership of my spare chips was entertaining . .

I am reminded today about the movie Finding Nemo.
Near the end are cartoon seagulls which were my favorite part. They were constantly screaming.. " Mine Mine MINE". .
