Thank you Kiwi,
It was way too much stress on everyone for sure. Especially poor Ba-ba! She looks really good day. Skinny but with bright eyes and a better coat. She is hydrated, demanding more food and has jumped up in my lap twice purring. What a tremendous relief. If she keeps this up she'll be like new in no time. I appreciate the concern and well wishes. I had meant to get on here talking about hyperthyroidism in cats just as an FYI. You just never know when you're going to need support. .

Dear All,
It has been a terrible week for my family and I am completely heartbroken. Ba-ba initially rallied but then quickly declined a week later. I made the agonizing decision to let her go on Wednesday. We will never know for sure what happened. We did learn via an ultrasound that the nodule in her chest was actually much larger than was seen on x-ray. It is suspected that she had an underlying lymphoma that contributed to her becoming so ill. She started have generalized pain and I didn't want her to suffer, she'd already gone through too much. The home visit vet came to euthanize her which was peaceful and without stress for dear Ba. She passed comfortably in her favorite chair being gently petted by my son and I. An ocean of tears have been cried already here and I know there will be more to come. I am grateful that she had a few days of feeling good, eating good and getting much love before she had to go. I will never forget the many profound lessons she has taught me about love. She was an amazing companion and I was truly blessed to have known her.

Oh, I am so sorry you had this sad result.
. I can certainly feel your pain, as we lost 3 elderly cats in a row recently, as well.

Littlepaw, you have my deepest sympathy. Losing a much-loved cat is never an easy thing.
It might help you and your family to remember that Ba-ba had a good life when she was with you all. I hope so. .

Littlepaw, I'm so sorry for your loss.
. Of course it hurts; you are mutilated, for Ba-ba was a part of you. Have been watching this thread with great interest. Hope I can muster the grace and fortitude you, Littlepaw, have shown when the time comes for my own 13 y/o Lab and 17 y/o kitty.

MrsD, thank you. It did not go unnoticed that you replied right away. I appreciate your sympathy and am sorry for the loss of your kitties. It must've been very difficult to lose them in a row like that.
Kiwi, thank you. We have been remembering fondly how very spoiled Ba-ba was. How many cats have their very own hamster? Ba certainly had everything a cat could ever want, including three handservants. I am honored to have been able to give her such a life and thrilled she was healthy all those years to really enjoy every moment. Sparky, thank you for your deep understanding. It is indeed like a part has gone missing. A woman I know told me she feels we can have animal soulmates. After knowing Ba-ba I think she is right. Having had cats all my life I can say the bond we had was extraordinary. I don't know that I am feeling especially graceful but I stayed connected with Ba-ba and listened to the signals she gave me on what she wanted, and was able to do. I know when they time comes with your beloveds, you will do the same. Hugs for all, .
