Default heart disease in cats and dogs

I thought this article was very interesting. 11% + dogs and cats are affected by cardiac diseases!

that's interesting Doody. I had to leave Cooper at the Vets this morning for tests and observation and of course our imaginations are running rampant. We lost our first two airedales at age 7 to very strange cancers....Cooper is 7 1/2 and we rush to the bottom line.
.
I was up most of the night with him..he won't eat, drink, and tries to retch constantly.

His dogfood isn't on the recall list however he loves pigs ears and I am never giving him another one after reading about them this morning.

Please send him positive thoughts....I just can't put my dog on our prayer chain.

well...i'll say some prayers for cooper. i don't think the good lord wants any of his creatures suffering.

could he have just eaten something from the garden? grass?

i had a springer spaniel years ago who got a twisted bowel. we caught it early. but poor thing..kept trying to vomit and couln't.

.
for cooper too.

Thanks for the prayers...vet just called me and said his kidneys are NOT failing. She detects a slight heart murmer and he's very dehydrated, fever and some blood in stool. Said "his breath is terrible"...only laugh I've had all day...I confessed that we'd changed his dog food ...Holistic stuff made with anchovies and fish, carrots and peas...his coat is lovely, his breath is horrid.
She laughed too and said that's why he smells like a dead fish.
.

They are keeping him at least over night for IV's and maybe an XRay or two.

Thanks again for being here.

OH ALFFE!!!!! Not my sweet lovable Cooper!
.
I'm thinking positively that maybe he just ate something bad, like swallowed something sharp or something like that. He's top on my list of positive thoughts. Sweet baby Cooper. He has to get better before Aunt NancyDoody gets there!

It was so strange not to wake up with Cooper..he always sleeps with us although I must admit that I slept soundly for a change.
.
I am hoping for some good news this morning...like "come pick him up".....I haven't told him yet that his Aunt Doody is coming.
.

I know that Cooper and Ned would be great pals Redtail...he loves to play with other dogs.

It doesn't look like Alffe has reported in here yet today! But I do know they brought Cooper home with medicine and new dog food.

SO, words can hardly express how happy I am that he is home safe. Nearly cried when I found out he was home.

I'll leave the rest for Ms. Alffe to report when she comes along.

.
for Cooper and Mr. & Mrs. Alffe.

Thanks Doody...yep, he's home..slept all afternoon on our bed with his head on the pillow.
.
Vet said we will probably never know what made him so ill, I'm just so thankful that he's home in our bed.
.
And the heart murmer is very slight..1 on a scale of 10 so she'll just keep her eye on it.

He lost four pounds but loves this canned food which he has to eat for the next six days. i/d...supposed to be easy on the intestines.

Thank you all for the positive thoughts....

Doody....could you post his picture? LOLOL...I'm always giving you work!
