Default Drive buy squirreling

We have squirrels in the back yards and we love watching them. Yesterday
there were a couple of blue jays [birds) dive bombing the squirrels. They would get so close it looked like they would pick one up. There is no nest
for the jays to protect so maybe they were just bored. I have heard for years
that blue jays are mean.I wonder why they do the drive buys ??????
