Cold and wet! Wow, could use a little cold around now up here. Have to always be careful what I wish for though. It's about 33C and full sun here today. Feels like about 36C already and it's so humid there are droplets on the screens. I'm off for infusion shortly. Have to deal with car parks and people and all the rest. It's very hard in the heat. Sometimes I wonder why my ancestors from north western Europe came to this land. I guess they wanted some Koala happiness as well.

Thanks Lara.
A new generation of Brush Turkeys has emerged. Not as good as Koalas but still appealing - this one is getting a free food handout which it appreciates . .

Kiwi, that's actually really incredible. You must have a lush and leafy environment there for them.
I just looked at some information about how the young ones hatch. The chicks look really cute. Apparently they have a very difficult time surviving at first as they have to dig their way out of the mound after hatching and then the parents abandon them and leave them to fend for themselves immediately. They seem to be found more and more in towns and cities now. I remember them in inner city Brisbane and also at the beach on the Sunshine Coast. I have a couple here who dart across the grass and into the bush from time to time at dusk. They were feeding on the mangoes a month or so ago. They have a roost in a lush area between a couple of the cane paddocks. They're fully protected in my State by law not sure about anywhere else. You're a good "backyard buddy"! Declared Endangered in the Eastern States now. So sad. So angry.
