I did not do well on that quiz. I think I should change my name to "Sparrow" .

Good one!
. . The questions were mostly Australia oriented so I wouldn't expect you to know some of them. I should have known some of them but I didn't either. The Purple Crowned Fairy-wren was in the news this week so I actually knew that one. Very pretty bird. |

I love just about all birds -- I've been feeding for many years. My cats enjoy watching them too.
My avatar used to be a little Carolina wren and then dear, kind, lovely Alffe sent me that lion because she wanted to help me be brave.

I remember that avatar wren.
I also remember a couple of specific times when needed to be very brave and you were. . I know how much you love birds and it made me think of you. Lots of birds here lately since we've been keeping the bird bath filled. They all come in together and sit on the railing before diving in. Lots of tiny, tiny sunbirds and lots of honeyeaters as well as lots of crows at the moment. There are the couples and there are what I call the delinquents. The couples sit and groom each other on the rail. Some of their behaviour reminds me very much like the chickens. There is a pair of Spangled Drongos that come to drink and swim. The crows make it really dirty because they get right in it. Also have blue headed birds that I think are honey eaters and there's friarbirds and kingfishers. Magpies, butcher birds, peewees, willy wagtails. Unbelievable. Just from making sure there is enough water for them all. At the moment there are some magpie geese hanging around because of the mangoes. There are a couple of long necked ducks and of course the Bush stone Curlews and occasional Kookaburra. I've missed many, but that's a lot. phew... that's a lot all in this little spot. Lovely. |

So many years I lived on military bases and had lots of birds --- Then moved to a house out in the Missouri woods - had LOTS of birds, but never a single bluebird.
In 2008 I moved into a brand new condo in a brand new subdivision with not a tree in sight. I saw a few blue birds so I bought some feeders and bags of mealworms. I have bluebirds!!

The ABC quiz about wrens was fun.
As an Australian resident it was interesting to do.
