Shocked The tough life of a hummingbird~~~

My husband has become a FAN of cuteoverload.com

This website has donated pictures of pets/animals from around the world and is pretty interesting. It won a web award just recently.

Well, yesterday he was catching up on this blog, and reading the comments to some pictures posted about praying mantises...where this link was given:

caution--this may be upsetting to some, so click if you are feeling strong today---

.

While upsetting, it is still interesting. A hummer's life is fraught with danger!
We saw hawks pursuing ours this summer as they flew over the water, coming over and also as they visited the jewel weed that was blooming. We didn't see a "catch" but some close calls. It appears to me that his hummer is a baby fresh from the nest, as the beak is short. They don't grow the longer beak until a year old or so.

We find our life on the island quite special... we have the smallest mammal on earth (the pigmy shrew) in abundance and the smallest bird-- the hummingbird!

The blog at Cuteoverload is very interesting...animal lovers here may enjoy it.

And you know, Chewie, I betcha would get selected for posting. Esp if you focus on the footies. They have categories, toes, noses, tocks (buttocks) and don't miss cats n'racks. This section gets rather heated at times but some of the pictures are alot of fun. This is as close to "porn" my husband gets...
.

One has to have a unique picture or pet to get selected...they get over 10,000 pics a month! But I think Chewie qualifies! So get that camera out!

LOL! Okay Mrs. D. I'll get my camera running tonight. Chewie is very camera shy. LOL!

It's a fun site. I'll check it out tonight when I get home.
