I feel so much better since getting this little turtle, watching him swimming around and seeing him looking up at me makes me feel all giddy and happy. I know he's just a turtle but he's our pet turtle and I am really getting so much out of having him in the house, more then I ever could have imagined to be honest.
. . . . . . . It's so wonderful to have a pet again, (it's been over twelve years since we had a cat and I missed having a live critter here with us bcecause my son is autistic and very unpredictable) I bet I am not the only Turtle keeper here am I? . I found an awesome forum too for those of you who are interested in either getting a turtle for your family or just want to learn more about them: . I am more then happy to answer any questions anyone might have about my little Yellow Belly Slider and hope to find I am not the only one here with a beloved aquatic pet. .

Thanks Doody! I am so glad you enjoyed the pics I really am glad they came out so good. I just love the pics as they really showcase how cute he is!
. Hi BMW! Here is a care sheet from the site I got all my info from: . I would say they aren't difficult to care for but you need to invest time and money in their care, so if you're interested and want to do it right give that a read over and see what you think, like if you could swing all the accessories a turtle needs. Also check out this GREAT forum: . Things have been kinda rough, but the turtle has helped me so much! I am not nearly as depressed. Though I am not using my Cpap, I got tired of the pain in the morning on my teeth from the mask being too big and not being in the right place and I haven't yet called the medical supplier to see about a replacement one in a smaller size so once I do that I expect to be using it again. . So good to see you're still here, if you have any questions on turtles just run them by me, there is a schedule and routine you have to get established and I think it's more then just a child could do, unless they were a devoted teen and loved their pet turtle. . Which of course could happen if they are as smitted by a new turtle as I have been with Mr. T, who we're not sure if he's a boy yet, they need to be about 4-5 inches before you can accurately determine gender. . And my little guy is about 1 1/4 inches still. . Here is one more cute pic of him in my hand to give you an idea of just how small he is: .

I had a turtle like this when I was about 7-8. I used to make an obstacle
course for him out of old blankets, and cardboard, and have him explore. Of course 50+ yrs ago his home wasn't at all spiffy like your Mr. T's is! Will this guy grow big enough to eat your fish? Fibrowendy has turtles too.( It think she is the one--I hope I am not mistaken). Have you seen the picture she has of one of her tortises driving her car? Ask her to post it...it is very funny. What do you feed this guy?

. He definitely will gow big enough to eat the fish but they were ten cents a piece and I bought them as feeder fish so it won't bother us at all. He likes to eat the smaller ones, so the two in the pictures are still too big for him, so they will be around for awhile. Thanks for the compliment on my tank setup, I am very pleased with how well it's looking now. Here is a full shot you can see the 'basking platform' he uses to dry out to avoid getting shellrot and to warm up under the light: . Other then the turtle pellets enriched with vitamins and stuff, he eats crickets, some fruits, and worms and such. He even eats the flake fish food! What a little hungry fella eh? . He's going to grow to be about this big too: . Amazing photograph I think, it comes from . just surfing around the photo galleries there can take HOURS...They have some really incredible pics there of some really gorgeous turtles. .

. I hope you post pix as he grows. It'll be interesting to watch that. I think all animals are special in their own way. And I'm glad you have your new buddy to bring some fun and joy to your world. I've had all kinds of beasties - lizards, a rat, rabbits, a pony. I can't even think of all of them. . I have 6 pets now. Love that plecostamus, too. He could get big too - we had one about 9 in long.

Thanks braingonebad! I really love this little guy, I definitely will keep posting new pics as they are taken for as long as the digital cameral still works.
. I agree, all animals are special in their own ways. I bought this big ole' plecostamus at this size knowing he could get bigger. We had a smaller one but it died and the group ate him between the fish and the turtle. I look forward to have it for many years to come. . .
