dogs can tolerate cheese (or large amounts of dairy).
For them, just put the flaxoil in the food they normally eat.

Apparantly, I have poisoned my dog and I. Trying to find a more natural approach to cancer instead of the more conventional one, I tried the miracle combo pet owners are raving about. According to the vet, dog's can't tolerate all that fatty acids found in flaxseed and can suffer from pancreatitis. He hinted around as to a lesser amount being introduced and then build up from there. My Nina is in the hospital right now with an IV. I am still awaiting another call from the vet and hopefully we will be able to bring her home tonight. Half hour ago, his tech says she has perked up since they brought her in on the stretcher this mornning.
Thank you for all your concern! |

hi nohope
I have been catching up on reading here and did an earlier reply on SoS how much flaxseed oil were you and Nina taking??? and also, if you have been ill too, could there possibly have been anything toxic in the cottage cheese, ie could it have gotten contaminated or gone "off". I am not sure of the "mix" you were making but the two ingredients in normal doses wouldnt usually make one ill, unless contaminated or a possible intolerance buildup. I do hope Nina will be ok, and you too .

NoHope,
I am sorry you are going through this with your pet. . When it was discovered my Shih Tzu had Emerging Lyphoma the Vet had me feed him Science Diet AD and give him a smidge of another product (basically pure sugar) to get him to eat. It worked well at first and I could have opted for chemotherapy...but chose not to for personal reasons. Anyway, I hope you can get some answers and some help for your beloved pet. This is hard...I know. . |

Thank you. You have got to be right about the tolerance build up as we went through several buckets of cottage chz, at least one a day. We started with the gels and me and Nina were taking 3, 1000mg a day and 1/4 cottage chz. I saw a little more perkiness out of Nina by day 3, but the tumor was unchanged. Did a little more research and discovered it would not benefit her as it needs to be kept cold and dispensed as a liquid. Something about mixing the cottage cheese with the oil till the dairy absorbs all traces of the oil. A product with similar consistency as yoghurt. So, I was giving 2 tblsp with 1/4c cottage cheese twice a day. By day 9, I was throwing up. I went off of it, but continued with Nina's as her tumor was shrinking!!! By day 12 she was within hours at death's door. She is currently in ICU, but I hope to pick her up after I pick up my daughter from school. Thank you so much for your reply and help
