Ali I know when you got Sparky....May 24th. My sister's birthday is Empire Day (and Australia used to celebrate that), and we always had a bonfire that night when I was a lot younger.:)

Kitty, we had peach faced parrots a few years ago, and our cats never
ever bothered them. In fact, one of them used to sit under the aviary and scare away any of the neighbourhood cats that dared to come our way! :D

BF, my brother had homing pigeons when I was a child so I can remember what fun they used to be. DH and I had 2 German Shepherds, then 3 cats until they all passed away due to old age.

This little bird is very young, and we do hope to teach him to talk. Unfortunately not all will talk, so we just have to keep on perservering.

I am so happy that you finally have the cockatiel to go with the cage etc that you had already purchased! I bet you are all very happy and excited. So, is it true that the male is easier to teach to talk than the female?

We had love birds and the children really liked them. Hubby put a little nesting box and they had babies! The babies were so cute!

The cockatiel is a beautiful bird, much bigger than a love bird. What a wonderful gift.

Thank you 3rd Journey. We had an aviary with Peach Faces in it a few years ago, and some people here call those Love Birds. They were lovely too.:)

We do hope to get this little fellow to talk, but if not... then it really won't make him any less lovable.
