Rocky will be 3 in September. He sleeps maybe 14-16 hours a day or so? He likes to follow us around during the day like a puppy. He's on guard most of the night too, but sleeps more at night during the winter, cuddling up to us in bed to stay warm.
.

That makes sense about diet. I feed him Eukanaba indoor hairball formula from the pet store. It's expensive but concentrated so I don't think it costs much more than the commercial brands at the grocery store. He only eats 1/2 cup a day and maintains his 8 lbs well with that. He doesn't get any canned food. Those are really expensive in comparison if you looked at total cost over a few months, which is how long the big bag lasts.

Somebody needs to start a new thread in this forum so I don't keep coming to the forums index and seeing: "Cats & Sheep"!

Waves back at Doody!
.

We found a new IAMs cat food kibble at WalMart this summer, to use if we ran out of Eukanuba. We didn't quite, so I haven't opened it yet.

But it has acetyl-l-carnitine added! This is a mitochondrial enhancer, muscle promoter and mental energy giver for older humans! It also has more Vit A and something else which escapes me. (it is packed up in the cars now).

I wonder if it will "perk" up drowsy cats? I do know our youngest doesn't sleep so much. She is 9. Tippy is 15 and sleeps quite a bit. (less up here with the excitement the woods has to offer). Some sleeping may just be boredom?

Just when I finally buy Eukanaba, Mrs. D buys Iams. LOL!

My cats like the Eukanaba. I also bought for Bruna, but she doesn't want anything to do with it, she is so darned finicky!

A lady at a local animal feed store here told me to watch out because the cats can get fat on Eukanaba? Well, Chew boy is a lost cause, he's just huge, I mean huge, anyway.

Sheba got fat on the diet version of Science Diet. She is no longer fat on Eukanuba. Cats need more fat than dogs. I think the carbs that replace the fat in the "diet" versions just makes them eat MORE. My son's cat is on the kidney formula and eats MORE to make up for the lower protein. She is getting quite tubby now, but at least her blood tests are better.

IAMs kibble is very similar to Eukanuba...they make both.
Sometimes we switch back and forth. I couldn't find Eukanuba in the Soo (Sault St. Marie Mich). So I had to use one of the IAMs. It has corn as the 3rd ingredient, so I don't know how Sheba will react to it. The Eukanuba has corn further down (or perhaps they are changing them all?)

First view might be disjointed but if it is, wait for the next one.
