That is okay... I tend to have many typos in my posts these days too... I don't harbor any judgement on spelling or grammar! LOL
Thanks for the article....it is a FIRST to show photos of actual damage. That ought to be sent to all doctors, IMO! Now I can refer people to this study, and they can decide whether to try the NAC for themselves. Dr. Cohen had a patient who used IV glutathione for his Cipro damage. We can see that from this article why that was helpful too!

Is this the same NAC that is supposed to help loosen the mucus/phlegm?

Yes, it is the same NAC.
It is also used as a sterile solution in nebulizers. Its brand name was Mucomyst.

Mrs.D, I have long considered using NAC but I am not sure if it was you or somebody else who said that if I don't have congestion due to mucus, it'll not be of help. Since, thank God, I don't cough and no phlegm/mucus, I havent taken it. Based on my understanding in this thread, it seems that NAC is not only use to loosen mucus, is it?
Thank you. Mary |

NAC is also a precursor to glutathione synthesis. It is the providing of the cysteine that works for this function.

I have successfully weaned off Plaquenil and Zoloft since they were implicated in possible PN. After reading through this thread my instincts agree that Rx meds may cause more problems than we expect them to fix.
One combo of drugs prescribed to me by my neurologist I am reluctant to stop, and I wanted to gather some input. I have not found anything conclusive in web searches. He felt I had atypical migraine. My symptoms were left-sided facial numbness and tingling, under the tongue jabbing pain, with or without frontal headache that would send me to bed early with pain. For this I am taking Vimpat (lacosamide) 100 mg. 2x daily, verapamil 80 mg. 2x daily, and amitriptyline 50 mg. at night. This combo has been effective in reducing my facial/tongue symptoms and headaches. That said, it does nothing for my PN symptoms in my LE, but I have accepted that it won't. (my neurologist still says it might, but I just smile and say nothing at this point.) Any input would be great! |

For once WebMD has a fairly complete entry, but doesn't say about how to take:
http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supple...INE#vit_dosing Not here either: http://umm.edu/health/medical/altmed...ement/cysteine Because of potential for stomach upset, taking with food and adequate water may be best over all.
