Thanks, as always, mrsD.
I deleted the posts because I was embarrassed that I had perhaps started an inappropriate thread or posted in an inappropriate place. While I have a sense of humor about things, I do not want others here to think that I do not take our concerns seriously. I am taking Nordic Naturals Omega-3 and I would like to stay with the brand because of its apparent quality and purity. However, I am noticing breath odor and there may be body odor that is noticeable to others. I do not have odor problems when I eat fresh fish. The problems started with the supplements. I'll look into the krill oil. Maybe I can transition over to that. By the way, is NSI a reputable brand? Vitacost.com markets a lot of their products. |

Yes, it looks okay. I've never tried them.
Their page does not have any hinky things that I usually spot. The breath thing might go away with time. People don't usually realize how bad their stomach linings are with low EFA intake. Once the fish oil starts working, any minor GI reflux typically goes away. There are chlorophyll type breath aids on the market. And this also is very good, with many other products to try: https://store.breathrx.com/product.p...39S&skey=13404

I'll request that the title to this thread be changed.
Something like: Question about fish oil odor side effects. How's that?

There is a parsley product at some groceries check outs, but I forgot the name. In little plastic dispenser boxes like tic tacs.
I think cilantro is also used as a detox in general. If you take the fish oil with food, and then enough water etc, it usually moves on and dilutes out. Most people call this "fishy burps". You might take it earlier in the day, and not at night before bedtime. That is when most things come back on you.

Mrs. D,
I've been taking the mega-red krill oil for a couple years now. I don't have cholesterol issues, so i have no feedback in terms of its effectiveness in regard to lipids. I started out taking 1 cap a day, but about 1 year ago increased it to 1 twice a day. Any thoughts on dosing, Mrs. D?

I have seen some people responding to blogs, who take 3 a day.
But I only take one a day. I think this is pretty benign stuff, so if you can afford it, see how it works for you. I do see improvements in skin with that red antioxidant in it...The Krill oil has that double thing working for you too that fish oil does not. This is still new to me, so as long as you are not having any troubling side effects, you can alter your doses as you think best.

I'll keep that in mind. Maybe my body will adjust.
I was thinking of upping my parsley intake. I have a vague, layman's notion (from reading Andrew Weil and others back in the '90s) that parsley is a nutrient-packed, detoxifying "superfood." That's not to say that it will have the effect of cleansing my breath, but it's green and leafy, so what could it hurt, right? Parsley smoothies, anyone? |
