Good idea. Thanks.
In the meantime, maybe the moderators will delete this thread. |

Sorry I couldn't answer sooner... we lost all power yesterday in 90 degree heat no less, and I lost my DSL and computer ability.
It was just restored. I had been typing an answer to this thread in fact when it "went". When you say, odor...do you mean bad breath? Fishy breath? Or body odor? Some people reflux fish oil, esp when starting out, and once the stomach heals up some, the burping goes away. There are alternatives: 1) enteric coated fish oils are available, and Costco and SAM's usually have them 2) Krill oil is new, and very potent, so a little capsule does the work of a big fish oil one. I use Mega Red now as an experiment to see if that is really true. I'll know in fall when I have my tests run. But there is no reflux of any fish flavor from Krill oil, at least for me, and the capsules are much smaller. If you have body odor, this may be genetic. Some people have a problem metabolizing fish. They don't even have to eat it to have this odor. Here is more on that with some suggestions too: http://www.healthblurbs.com/cause-fo...-smell-remedy/

Oh, I see you deleted while I was typing!
You didn't have to delete.

Thanks, as always, mrsD.
I deleted the posts because I was embarrassed that I had perhaps started an inappropriate thread or posted in an inappropriate place. While I have a sense of humor about things, I do not want others here to think that I do not take our concerns seriously. I am taking Nordic Naturals Omega-3 and I would like to stay with the brand because of its apparent quality and purity. However, I am noticing breath odor and there may be body odor that is noticeable to others. I do not have odor problems when I eat fresh fish. The problems started with the supplements. I'll look into the krill oil. Maybe I can transition over to that. By the way, is NSI a reputable brand? Vitacost.com markets a lot of their products. |

Yes, it looks okay. I've never tried them.
Their page does not have any hinky things that I usually spot. The breath thing might go away with time. People don't usually realize how bad their stomach linings are with low EFA intake. Once the fish oil starts working, any minor GI reflux typically goes away. There are chlorophyll type breath aids on the market. And this also is very good, with many other products to try: https://store.breathrx.com/product.p...39S&skey=13404

I'll request that the title to this thread be changed.
Something like: Question about fish oil odor side effects. How's that?

I'll keep that in mind. Maybe my body will adjust.
I was thinking of upping my parsley intake. I have a vague, layman's notion (from reading Andrew Weil and others back in the '90s) that parsley is a nutrient-packed, detoxifying "superfood." That's not to say that it will have the effect of cleansing my breath, but it's green and leafy, so what could it hurt, right? Parsley smoothies, anyone? |
