I have to wonder.... about your age. If you are young, then supplements may not be needed yet.
In a young person I think the first thing to try is going gluten free. This is a significant possibility in a younger person because you have less exposure to toxins and RX drugs which are known causers of PN. Your thought about a TIA and hence a stroke type cause, may not respond to supplements except for the B12. Pain from stroke is central in the brain, and may be due to death of cells from glutamate that has leaked out of them to poison others near by. So I'd look to your diet, and avoid sugar and lots of carbs, controlling them, prevents LOWs that result from swinging high to low glucose, which causes tingling in the periphery. Take a magnesium supplement (not OXIDE) at 200mg a day chelate type or SlowMag type, to enhance your metabolism. The benfotiamine may help if your problem is dietary, because it helps with carbohydrate metabolism. 300mg a day for a month or so will reveal if it is going to work. Make sure you get adequate omega-3 fatty acids in your food as well, so the nerve membranes can repair themselves. Salmon, and various smart foods like Smart Balance products provide them today. You can take fish oil, 3 a day of regular type or some Krill oil, 1 or 2 of them. This approach will provide a platform for any dietary insults or lacks that may be affecting your nervous system. These things are typically healing in action.
