Are the Vitamin World brands of A-Lipoic Acid & Acetyl L-Carnitine decent quality?
I found this scientific article on Lipoic Acid, it was very informative: http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/othernuts/la/ |
Vitamin World and Puritan's Pride are the same company.
Puritan's prices are "discounted" and much lower. Puritan's advertises GMP manufacturing practices. I've never had a problem with Puritan's, and have used them for years. They do not have the Stabilized Lipoic acid however. I do have their acetyl carnitine though. |

Also when I called Vitamin World today I asked them if any of their ingredients in their Lipoic Acid is made in China. The phone rep stated "yes" and it's mostly the Lipoic Acid itself that is made in China but she assured me that they test the product here in the USA for mercury, lead, etc, before they release the product to the public. Is that normal for products to be made in China and is it safe or should I try and find a product that is NOT made in China? If that is even possible??? I was told that all Lipoic Acid is manufactured in China and that no USA based manufacturer gets its Lipoic Acid from here in the States. Is that true? |
I use Doctor's Best NaRALA from Geronova ...they don't say if their raw material comes from out of the country however.
http://www.geronova.com/node/59/form...?theme=forzone You could call or email them for further details. This link has a review first up... that says Geronova makes its own R-lipoic stabilized, and that most ALA comes from China. I don't know how accurate that is. http://www.amazon.com/Doctors-Best-S.../dp/B000I4C19G |

Thanks for the heads up! I read the review and researched it. It looks like the Doctors Best version gets the Lipoic Acid from the USA and the Doctors Best is the purest form of it around. I went ahead and purchased the Doctors Best version. I just don't trust the Chinese made version. They (China) poison their people and don't really care. The quality control of China leaves a lot to be desired. |
Yes, I agree. China also typically adds DRUGS to their herbs too.
I saw on CNN yesterday that a Chinese company bought Smithfield's pork company. |
