Saw my dr. today for a follow up on my worsening neuropathy since hosptalization and IVs for cat bite (am sitting with my feet on ice now) I am getting little sleep as wale up repeatedly with terrible foot/leg cramps. I cannot take any drugs for it, as my husband died last mth and i am alone. The drugs make me mental I have learned from the past. I am taking a lot of B vitamins and get a B12 shot from my dr. Prior to all these iv antibiotics I had little problems with it, as had it quite under control. Stopped in at Infectious Disease clinic today and must get all the drugs I was given as pharmacistst there are interested in possibilities, as am I. Dr has ordered a topical for me...have used them in the past successfully.Iti s so maddening having this occur after getting out of the hospital

There are many antibiotics that can cause PN.
Post your list here, so I can check it. We are leaving for 5 wk vacation at the end of this week where I will not have computer service. (except for free wifi at the laundromat and my iPhone 4G.) So if you can get those names ASAP, that would help. This is the thread here on drugs causing PNs. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread122889.html The lists on the net vary quite a bit, and some drugs have not been added to some of them. Fluoroquinolones, Vancomycin, Flagyl, Tindamax and Zyvox are the major ones so far. Here is a very new article showing how the damage occurs: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases...0703160623.htm You might want to investigate the new magnesium lotion, for your feet. Rub only on the tops and up the ankle: Morton's Epsom Lotion... available on Amazon and at WalMart. This is a wonderful product and the magnesium will pass into the skin to help with nerve functions that may be damaged there from the drugs.
