MrsD and others

On a a slightly different topic but related to the mention in this thread of Pharma sales reps pushing pills - I'm currently reading a book called 'Dreamland' (The True Tale of America's Opiate Epidemic) by Sam Quinones (Pub 2015)
ISBN: HB: 978-1-62040-250-4
or PB: 978-1-62040-252-8
or ePub: 978-1-62040-251-1

I'm only about half way thru but very interesting insight into not just the Pharma industry but also what has happened to the US medical industry particularly over the past two decades.

Default Second Generation ("Atypical") Antipsychotics - Misuse

A Warm Hello to All,

Thanks for this info. and discussion.
The topics are disconcerting, to say the least. However, it's important to know the truth.

MrsD - The misuse of Seroquel and other medications in this category of "Second Generation -- or Atypical -- Antipsychotics" is rampant. Thanks for the link. These include Seroquel, Zyprexa, Risperdal and others.
Somehow, Big Pharma convinces physicians, including " highly educated psychopharmacologists" that these off-label uses are just fine.

Phillip Dawdy, an investigative reporter and author of a then very popular blog named "Furious Seasons" had reported on these and other issues several years ago. We all thought the publicity would end these practices. Much to everyone's dismay, these practices only continued. The "Furious Seasons Blog" is no longer available; however, there are many internet references to the blog, to Phillip Dawdy and to his investigative reporting.

I'll never forget the day Phillip Dawdy had reported on how the alleged Big Pharma "ghost-written" research studies (and the conclusions of these studies) were signed by Joseph Biederman, an otherwise well-respected Harvard Child Psychiatrist. It's alleged Biederman had signed as investigator of said studies, was endorsing the use of these "Atypical Antipsychotics" with children, even though he truly had not conducted the studies and could not verify the conclusions made in said studies.

It all goes much deeper than this, of course.

Here's a link, referencing that piece in this increasingly lengthy history of the misuse of this class of medications: http://jeffreydachmd.com/defrocking-...ic-psychiatry/
Please see this link and the links/info given within. Astounding!

Children were/are the targets in this part of history of the misuse of these meds.

Sadly,
DejaVu

Exactly!

MrsD - Thanks for "tying this in" to the original topic for me. I had gotten a bit lost in the info I was trying to relate...and a bit lost in the absurdities. It's not only sad, but infuriating! We are better off knowing the truth, even so. We need to know how to keep ourselves (and one another) safe as we pursue health/healing.

We are fortunate to share info. in a group like this.
