Default new here

I'm new to this forum and thought to introduce myself. I have been married to my husband for 13 years and he has been suffering with PTSD since 1991 (and maybe longer) after he was blown up in the Phillippines. Not military, volunteer worker. No benefits, no support group, no help whatsoever. Just me. We have been trying to get help all these years and are just now finding it. He got plugged into a group of VietNam vets who have included him in their support group and helped him to find a counselor. He just got a new doctor that has been WONDERFUL! He actually knows something of PTSD and what it does physically to the body and is finally treating him for PTSD, not individual symptoms. He has felt so alone all these years and I can tell you so have I. NO ONE gets it.

So I am hoping to find some support as we stumble through the healing process. Right now it is getting worse as things are starting to come back to him. They tell me it will get better. I hope so. He is trying so hard and I am so proud of him and I hurt so much for him, but I can't do it for him.

So thank you for this forum.

HI Debm2,

Welcome and I am sorry to hear what has happened to your husband and the effects that it has had on you - I think living with someone who has PTSD must be really challenging - I live alone (except for my kitts) and would probably have driven anyone living with me crazy by now so give yourself a pat on the back - you deserve it! I am glad your husband has found help at last that must have been terrible for him and you-

you can ask any question you want here or just vent when things drive you crazy - i really hope things get better for you both soon - things do/can get better with the word i really hate TIME ! but its true, take care P7
