weather change, my biggest problem

The weather is changing here again and boy does it put me into a flare. I took my Methadone awhile ago and waiting for it to kick in. I actually like the winter here better then the summers due to the summers getting screwier but the winters don't like me.

Has anyone ever done a survey on which state is better or worse for RSD?
I know MS'ers say they do better in the winter.

Ada

I do much worse in the winter even though it's my favorite time of year. I personally hate hot weather but my leg loves it. So I'll be miserable from the heat but the pain is fine. Well, as fine as it ever gets, ya know? I don't know myself but I've read on here that for some folks the cold makes it feel better. I am not sure if that's the cold rsd or the hot, I never could get that straight in my head.

I dont think any time of year is good but spring and fall on a nice day are the best for me. Hot summers are very bad and cold winters here in MN are very bad... I think I should moveout of MN!!!

Not sure which state is worst tho I have found some info while googling air pressure changes & RSD today. I'm in the northeast where we had tornado warnings and severe storms today and my pain has been at a 10 most of the day despite dilaudid, oxycontin, tramadol, soma, etc, etc.

No question humididty, pressure and temperature affect pain. I also found in a horrible way that pressurizing a plane cabin has the same effect, just multiplied a ton.

I try to schedule my outings around the weather as much as I can at this point and just accept that days like this will likely be a washout, in many way. :)

Hope you'll be feeling better soon,
Dawn

Hi Ada, For me, I think where we are living is good except for the horrendous HOT summers. Live in Arizona-Phoenix area. October thru May is good. very dry, no rain, July Aug Sept are so hot- I have full body RSD and internal, so my body is Hot anyway, so the heat outside is horrible. When I do leave the house, the car is cooled down with air cond. and I go from air cond. to air cond. When leaving a store, turn the air on to cool it down. just touching metal seat belt metal will burn your hand!
Next summer I'm planning on being away for several weeks. We have friends in Oregon and Washington that come every year, and they keep asking me to come visit. So next summer I'm going. Hope it all works out.
What part of the country do you live in? I think parts of California would be good.
Take care and hope you have a nice fall/winter. your friend, Joycw

Hi,

I live in Colorado. The weather has changed here in the past 10 or so years. It is getting hotter in the summer and this year more humidity then we have ever had with no rain. I don't like the heat. When Bill was living we use to retreat to the mountains to cool off in the summer.

Last winter was bad. We had frozen pipes around here for about a week. We'd never dealt with that before. The winters are getting colder and longer here. I use to think Colorado had the most perfect weather. I will say though Arizona and Florida beats it with the heat.

The barometer changing causes me a lot of problems and it seems to be changing constantly right now.

I deal with different parts of my body hurting at different times. Last week it was my pelvic area, this week it's my right arm, hand and pelvic area. Another day it was my right foot, leg and pelvic area. Can't tell from one day to the next what will hurt on me. I have been taking my Methadone some to help but went and go shots Friday to help some. Sometimes it takes more then one round of shots to help.

I like winters best but they seem to make my pain worse now. The summer use to be the worst on me.

Loretta, some parts of Oregon and Washington are cold and rainy. I spent a year in Oregon and it was beautiful but depressing due to the cold and rain.

I went back to Ky. for 2 weeks a few years back and didn't hurt the whole time I was down there but at the time they were having perfect weather.

Do we have people on here from most all states? Are there some we haven't had on here?

Ada

I really can't recommend Ohio. It was hot this summer which was great for me since I cannot ever seem to get warm enough. But the barometric changes are really terrible. It seems like when I am in South Carolina that I feel the best, especially when on the coast. I don't know if it is because I relax more there or if it is the climate. I love my Buckeyes but hate the weather here!

I actually moved from up north to FL though I was in CA and that was much better for my legs. Not as good for my eyes. For me the heat and humidity is very hard but better then the cold and snow. I can't wear boots or certain types of clothes which does not help. I also go frozen even in a room that is air conditioned too much. The rain storm we had the other day here was horrible on me and like yesterday the wind was so hard it feels like a bat to my rsd area. I wish I could live in a bubble. I am joking but sort of mean it.

Glad I'm not crazy!

Miss Ada,
I am glad you posted this and I have been complaining to my family about it and they ask when the weather doesn't affect my RSD...

Weather is a huge part of my life as I live in WV and we got tons of snow this past winter and a horrible heatwave this summer and it certainly set me into a tailspin of symptoms..
