Lurking

Every once in a while, I go to my personal page and see who are the last 10 people to have visited me.

I recognize most but then again, there are always a few that are lurking. I wonder who they are and why they are curious about me. What did I say, what comment spurs a look.

I am always tempted to go to their page and ask...

I am known at work for being nosy. I butt in on anything and everything out of sheer overwhelming curiousity. And my co-workers think it's funny. :o If I come to your house, I'll try not to move anything around in the medicine cabinet as I look through the contents, lol. :D

There are a LOT of reasons I'll go to someone's personal page...sometimes it's just that something about the user name that grabs my attention. Every now and then I'm browsing random forums and want to read more of that person's posts. Other times I've found a post via the search feature and want to know more about the person who posted.

I like to look at people's photo albums... :o

Some people use the profile to send PMs too. It is the safest way to send the correct message to the right person, BTW.

I get alot of visitors too.

BTW I love the glass sculptures in your album from that Botanical Gardens!

You don't have to visit their profile to find their posts. You can click on their user name to open a menu, as long as you are not in Search Mode.

I'd say general curiosity. I've been to your page but I have no memory of the reason why...sorry!

I get that uncomfortable feeling when I see that a post has 12 replies but 350 views from anonymous viewers (especially a post in the Inn that offers no real information or help to a newbie with MS)

this one is at 8 replies and 196 views! lol

Many "views" are from automated robots that work for search engines, and scan repeatedly various postings on forums. They add up quickly. Of course some are viewers that are human, but many are robots on the web too. Some of them come back every time there is a response, if they have internally tagged the post.
