Medications causing neuropathy
As I was looking for articles about pre-diabetes causing neuropathy, i stumbled this link that showed a list of medications that can cause neuropathy. take note that statin is mentioned. However most of the medicines listed are unheard of (at least as far as I am concerned).

Thanks for the article.... but it is from 2010... and since then
fluoroquinolones have been added to that list: http://blogs.naturalnews.com/new-fda...ixed-emotions/ http://www.fda.gov/Drugs/DrugSafety/ucm365050.htm One cannot trust lists found on the internet I have discovered. All of them vary, and some include drugs that others don't. |
15 years ago I was prescribed Cipro daily for a six month period. I have only had PN for two years but it still makes me wonder if it could have contributed in some way to my nerve degeneration.

I agree that most lists found on the internet will either be incomplete, contrary to each other, or wrong.
When reading such lists, I take them as a guide only. However, if many lists show my medication close to the top, I'd take it as a cause for concern and would likely question my Doctor. I find it interesting that "gold" is listed. In today's culinary world (well in Australia anyways), real gold leaf is becoming more and more fashionable. Adorning deserts, it's seen as that little touch of luxury. One has to wonder, if over indulgence could lead to PN in the future. *shrug* |

I would say an argument could be made that overindulgence is leading to diabetic PN now, and has been since the explosion of obesity in some western cultures. Doc |
meds causing PN
I believe Flagyl as well is one I took this I think about the time my PN started but it was only for a wk It was for a bacterial infection so I thought I had. Turns out I had a couple stitches coming out from my hysterectomy. Fun to be put back under to take one little stitch out causing irritation 5 yrs after my surgery.
