How Long Have You

been sz free?

When was your last sz?

LIZARD 08-28-2006 11:15 AM

2 1/2 months...Woke up to get ready to hear my Sunday radio show and something said, "Don't get up yet..." About 10 min later, I had a GM in bed.  Now I'm on a low dose of med and doing great. :)

LIZARD :)

I am glad you are now doing great...

What meds are you taking?

LIZARD 08-28-2006 01:49 PM

60 mg phenobarb at night. Thank God I don't need more. I have an autistic child and can't afford to be whipped on med, which is what they have all done to me. :o

I had my last CP seizure on Feb. 4/06, then a grade 2 oligodendroglioma tumor was removed from left temporal lobe on Feb. 14. Not a sz since then.
Currently taking 1200 Trileptal and 125 Topamax which will be reduced in Oct.

It will be 6 years on October 17th (after surgery)...except for a seizure I had last October when my husband and I were seperated. I still can't believe the stress brought it on after a temporal lobectomy and 5 years seizure free (at the time). So, I guess it's really been almost a year. It's like an alcoholic being sober for 20 years but has a drink a year ago. That blows it.

They are still toying with my meds, I call it the 'Lab Rat' phase. :D

Husband hasn't had one in a year and a half. And that one was my fault. I was extremely tired and missed a med dose then a couple of doses later I was late with his meds by an hour and he seized. Quick way to a guilt trip.

In a way though it worked out for the best because he had been seizure free for 2-3 years and everyone kind of relaxed. Then with this one we discovered just how low his seizure threshold is...that he can't miss even one dose. He is on Tegretol and Neurontin. The neurontin made a big difference because he was not getting total control on the Tegretol...seizures every 3-4 months. He also takes Ativan for several reasons and I have permission to give him an extra dose if I see "pre-seizure activity. His seizures are set off by light and so we keep a small towel near him and put it over his eyes if he seems to be in trouble...it works for him thankfully. If I move fast enough I have been able to stop a seizure in it's tracks (the doctors have a hard time believing this but it's happened many times and so I know it's true).
