bugs crawling on scalp.

ok, hopefully I will get threw this phase of wanting to know if everyone else is experiencing the same thing I am or have. anyone else have the bugs crawling on your scalp sensation, somtimes feels like a tingly, buzzing feeling. other times feels like my hair has been in a ponytail, a tight one, for a long time and when you take it down your scalp aches. these feelings come and go.

I used to feel worms crawling under my skin on my arms. Sorry you have that sensation.

I too have had that sensation for many years. Even before I was diagnosed. I never put it into words and haven't mentioned to docs before. It feels to me like my scalp has fallen asleep all tingly. Quite annoying.

Hi April 1, :I-Agree:

Nope you are not the only one got it here too!! There are times it is so bad that I take my hair brush and sit for 20 minutes and just brush and brush. Drives me nuts!!! I know just how you feel. And I also have a problem if my hair touches my face it sends sharp electric shock sensations through my face.... that really Drives me nuts! Good Luck!

April
I'm doing fine. Just the usual, and yes my head is tingly today. My face is too. But that is fine, I just ignore as best I can.
I have a sister named April. Not a common name. Hope your weekend is going well and you are ok to.

Read an article today that this young boy kept telling his Mom that he was hearing something like Rice Crispies popping in his ears. She finally gave in and took him to the doctor. After careful exam, he irrigated the boys ear and a dead spider floated out. After more irrigation, a live spider followed! You never can tell.

I saw that story on our local news Monday. He kept the spiders as souvenirs, in a jar of some fluid. Yuck-a-mucka! Creepy, unless you're a 9 year old boy.

That spider story was SO GROSS! The spiders were eating the wax in the boys ears! Hideous.

Anyway, abuot the creepy crawly head thing - and the itchies: YES, I've had those sensations for many years and long before being diagnosed. In my case, the sensation sometimes felt like cold water 'dripping' or 'running' beneath my scalp. When I think about it, if it has anything to do with MS, it must mean I've had MS since the age of 11!!! :thud:

doydie 05-10-2007 11:26 PM

Yeah, I remember 'wiping' water off my face when there was none.

the cure is in the intestines, and burning furniture if your that shitty

eat some yogurt. i think i figured it out from too much rum at thanksgiving. my stomach was upset and it hurt to eat. the binge drinking disrupted my 'gut flora', the microorganism responsible for healthy intestines. other bacteria formed colonies, and my scalp started itching. i also noticed an increase in normal itching, like if nose grease gets in an eye, or the reflex to touch myself. bacteria can live in your hair i think, but usually doesn't because flora keep them in your intestines. even when you know your body is clean, your intestines may not be.

"lifestyle and environmental factors can greatly reduce the number of friendly bacteria allowing pathogenic bacteria to take hold and cause problems. Both friendly and pathogenic bacteria can and are affected by changes in the intestinal environment. Bacterial infections, stress, traveling, antibiotic treatment, alcohol, poor diet, aging and a number of other factors can and do disturb the delicate bacterial balance, often decreasing the number of beneficial bacteria while allowing an overgrowth in pathogenic bacteria."

Do not let your doctor confuse this with your brain playing tricks on you or welcome an antipsychotic prescription. Doctors like practicing medicine. Psychiatrists like practicing medicine. I don't appreciate some of the medical psychological language used when its just an upset stomach. Last thing, the tingle on the scalp could occur for a while after your stomach is healthy, then fade away until its not noticable.

I had this sx once......and it was very troubling as I never knew if it was really something up there or just the MS acting up. It didn't last long...thank goodness....

I have the feeling of bugs crawling all over me. My concussion was 3 years ago. My skin tingles, Some times drives me almost crazy.

I am glad to hear that this is a real symptom. Cause we really haven't told the Dr. Yet. But plan on bringing it up.
