How to - Save & Add Glitter Graphics to emails

I'm using Firefox as my browser & Thunderbird for my email program.
The basic steps should be similar for IE & outlook express but there could be some minor differences.

I'm using this one as my sample.
http://www.glitter-graphics.com/graphics/265304

Below the picture you will see download image
click that.
A window will pop up and tell you to "save as" {right click } for me is is "save image as"
click to save and save it to a folder or place you can find it easily.
In my pictures folder I have other folders for family pictures, scenery, graphics etc - just so things are easier to find.

now open up you email program and write /compose and email.
If you have 2 email accounts you can just send it to your self to test.
Now you have your write/compose window open and you should have something in the menu called Insert - click that and choose Image.
then use the button there to choose the file/picture that you saved

now in Thunderbird the pop up box has lots of options - change the size, add text, etc.

Then just click the OK button and it should get placed right into your email message.

Then send as normal.

Let me know if this works for you or I can load up Outlook ex and add any changes needed for it.

Just loaded OE and the steps are very similar so have fun.

Jo:

I did EXACTLY as you suggested. I went to my Verizon email account. I composed a new e-mail. There is NO PLACE WHERE IT SAYS INSERT. It only gives the option to do an attachment. So I figured, "what if I did it as an attachment, maybe it will insert itself into my hotmail account"

Oh, forgot to say I composed it in Verizon email and sent it to my Hotmail account.

Did not receive anything.

I am now going to do the reverse.

I'm going to my hotmail and see if I can insert it and send it to myself (anywhere??).

If this does not work, I'm doomed. Well, at least I can post pretty graphics on the Social Chat forum. lol

Melody

MelodyL 01-29-2008 04:54 PM

I'm doomed.

The only email thing that I have that allows me to INSERT anthing is Outlook Express. So I went there, composed a letter to myself (in hotmail and verizon), and I clicked on insert, I clicked on browse, I went to the my picture folder, I selected the graphic that I saved there (at least I believe I did that),

Actually, I do know what I am doing, I've saved tons of stuff over the years so I DO know how to use save and save as.

Well, guess what happened.

When I clicked on insert, etc. etc. and I tried to insert the picture, nothing showed up.

So I hit the SEND button, (just to see if maybe it might come out at the other end).

All that came out at the other end was a small blank rectangle.

I'm doomed, doomed!!!! lol

Melody

Jomar 01-29-2008 05:07 PM

I did a test send from OE to you.

For outlook express
you have to click in the message area before you can access the insert picture part up above

you may have it set to not show images - in your OE settings??

do you have other pictures that show on emails that you get?

MelodyL 01-29-2008 07:09 PM

Oh, you're gonna love this.

For some time now, I can't open up ANYTHING (pictures, attachments, etc.) in Outlook Express.

I have to go to my original Verizon mail to open up anything, or my hotmail address.

And I know all about going to the body of the message before I click on insert.

Believe me, I used to do this stuff all the time.

Then one day, dear old Alan sat at the computer.

from that day on, I can't attach, insert or do ANYTHING in outlook. I'm lucky I get mail and I can read it. lol

Melody

Koala77 01-29-2008 11:20 PM

My turn to try, because believe me I'm very trying...........:D

Nope....mine didn't work either and I do use Firefox.

MelodyL 01-29-2008 11:30 PM

Now we have to find out why Jo can insert graphics into her emails, and the rest of us can't.

Very confusing.

I'm hesitant about downloading any software to my computers (specifically to put graphics into emails). I once did that, and there was malware, and spyware, and I went nuts.

So this would be perfect.

The graphics really are beautiful. I mean, just look at this one.

http://dl8.glitter-graphics.net/pub/...rjf10slfwx.gif

Oh well, we'll keep plugging along.

Jomar 01-30-2008 01:45 AM

Koala,
what email program did you try it with outlook express or Thunderbird or another one?

I have my Thunderbird email at the default settings for the image insert part.

my mail sending settings were not right on my OE but finally was able to do a test image with it and it worked for me too.

Koala77 01-30-2008 02:29 AM

I did it sll over again using OE and was able to send it to myself. Now all I have to do is get it to work on here.

Nope...didn't happen. I officially give up!

Kaola:

All you have to do is copy and paste the codes (the bottom ones), into any posting you do. To me, this is the easiest thing I have ever done.

It's the email inserting I just cannot master. I mean, you have to save the image to your hard drive, then do the email.

But inserting it in a post, well all you have to do is go to glitter graphics and choose the graphic, look down to the bottom of the page, where there's two lines of codes.

You choose the bottom line of code. You copy it into your clipboard, and then when you come here, you just click paste.

You can do this either by using your mouse to right click the options, copy and paste, or you go up to the top of your screen where it says Edit, and you select copy and paste from there). Try doing that. I once was in a translating website and the right clicking of the mouse wouldn't do anything.

I had to go up to the top of the screen, click on edit and then finally, I could copy and paste.

Give it a shot.

Kaola:
Oh your having trouble posting them in the messages?

here's some help with that part of it, with screen shots that Curious made.
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread37633.html

MelodyL 01-30-2008 02:03 PM

Oh my god, this has to be the best computer board I have ever seen.

You even have SCREEN SHOTS to show people??

I wish someone would have SCREEN SHOTS of how to do the inserting a graphic in the email thing?

THAT I WOULD LOVE TO SEE!!!!

http://dl8.glitter-graphics.net/pub/...k02iy63i3p.gif

Jomar 01-30-2008 04:04 PM

Curious is our screen shot genius LOL
I have never taken the time to learn that one - some day....:o

Curious 01-30-2008 04:05 PM

i would melody...but i don't use outlook...

i'm not sure how it would help if i used my email service.

but yep...i LOVE to take screen shots. :D

MelodyL 01-30-2008 04:59 PM

I just took a screen shot and made a video to show to my friend's husband. He had sat down at the computer, opened up his mail and yelled out to his wife, "how come Melody didn't send me any videos today".

So I just pointed my logitech camera at the graphics on my screen (from one of the threads that has all the beautiful graphics on it), then I emailed it to him. He loves to get videos. He has a webcam but he's too shy to make them himself.

I give him credit. He's 69 and talks on the webcam to Poland all the time.

I don't even do that!!!! lol

Curious 01-30-2008 05:07 PM

melody...i had posted about adding some different smileys to emails...here is that thread. i;m still looking for some glittery fun for emails that will be easy to use.

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread36213.html

Koala77 01-30-2008 06:46 PM

Thanks Melody, I'll give it a go and let you know how I manage.
Thanx

Curious 01-30-2008 06:49 PM

koala, i bumped up a thread on ms chat. it shows how to post the graffics.

:D

MelodyL 01-30-2008 07:57 PM

Hi Curious.

I know all about the smileys. Have used them for years.

Don't want to insert smileys.

Want to insert THE GORGEOS GRAPHICS.

Like this one!!!

http://dl4.glitter-graphics.net/pub/...yip7tor3od.gif

MelodyL 01-30-2008 09:17 PM

SUCCESS....SUCCESS.....

I did it. With the help of Ivy, who told me how she did it. I now feel like hitting myself with a wet noodle. It's so easy.

I kept trying to save it to my "my pictures" folder, from the Glitter Graphic website itself. NOT THE WAY!!!

I just had to go to one of these posts and right click on the image, save it to the "my Pictures" folder. It actually showed up.

So I did the dragon. I sent it to all my friends. It's really pretty.

Here's the first image I was able to email. I'm so proud!!!! It's really cool.

Just wanted to say thanks.

http://dl.glitter-graphics.net/pub/1...o9nn0uycvz.gif

MelodyL 01-30-2008 09:25 PM

Well, I Celebrated Too Fast!!!!

Okay, here's my problem.

I can insert the image. I see it in my "my pictures" folder. I SEE IT THERE. I am in outlook express. I click on the message place first, I then go up to where it says Insert. I click on picture. I go to my pictures, click on the Dragon. I click on open. THERE IT WAS, RIGHT IN THE BODY OF MY EMAIL!!!

I tried sending it to people, also to myself.

ALL I GOT WAS A LITTLE GRAY BOX.

Okay, someone tell me why I can see it in the body of the email when I hit the send button, but it does not come out at the other end (anybody's email). not just mine.

I'm doomed. lol

Curious 01-30-2008 09:33 PM

i checked the properties. for some reason the whole image isn't saving. it says 28x30 pixels. which is way smaller than our avatars.

i'm going to post at my web sites tech forum. hmmmm....

Koala77 01-31-2008 12:54 AM

To all you wonderful people who've been patient with me......I had my operation on Friday, and I had to go see the neuro today. I go back to the plastic surgeon tomorrow....after that I'll try to get these graphics right, I promise!

Jomar 01-31-2008 02:05 AM

Mel,
here's a screen shot of my OE - go to Tools/ Options and then click the security tab.
In the center where it says Download Images see if yours has a check mark or not? It says Block images and other external content in HTML emails.
I think you want that to be unchecked, I think I had to uncheck it on mine.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...screenshot.jpg

MelodyL 01-31-2008 12:00 PM

Nope, mine was unchecked.

But the other day, I tried to open up an attachment, it did take some time, but I think it's starting to open.

Can you imagine?? My outlook express is starting to function like a little baby, one little thing at a time.

Absolutely absurd. lol

Melody

MelodyL 01-31-2008 12:01 PM

Koala::

Come back and join us whenever you feel up to it.

Until then, this is for you!!! Don't you just LOVE the colors on this graphic??

Glad you like it, Anne!
Hope I'm not becoming another cliche..:)

MelodyL 02-05-2008 10:10 PM

Wow, these are absolutely stunning.

I'm going to and look and if I find something EXTRAORDINARY, I shall post it.

But it HAS TO BE EXTRAORDINARY. Haven't seen one yet.

As Arnold Schwartznegger said:"I'LL BE BACK".

lol

Koala77 02-16-2008 09:58 PM

Hi there Jo55,

I did it...........I am so pleased with me! I actually never thought I would. I was thinking this was all too much to make a connection amidst my damaged grey cells, even though you were so patient with me....but I did it!!

Today I was able to finally connect the dots! YAY!!

How are you doing Melody? I saw you added a beautiful picture on the previous page.

Doodle bug7 03-16-2008 06:34 AM

Back in kindergarten

Jo55, I am such a loser. Could we go back to kindergarten and you explain about how to use a folder. It keeps telling me that I have a folder already named
C//documents(sample) and do I want to replace it? I keep saying no cause I don't want to replace it, I just want to put a picture in a folder. Equally important, when I sent an animated gif to my son, it had no movement to it.
The movement is the best part. I see your flower rippling away and the horse
running its Butt off. Run baby run. That is fantastic. Butt how did you keep the
movement going from one place to another?
Thankyou Jo55

Jomar 03-17-2008 12:58 PM

Doodle bug7,
You can make a new folder on your desktop or in your documents/pictures section.
Or any section that you want to make one in.

Making a FOLDER

For pictures /photos

I go to Start then Documents and then the My Pictures

and then on a empty area I right click and get the pop up list
- down near the bottom of that list is New - hold your cursor on it and another list will pop up
at the top of that list should be Folder
slide cursor up to that and click

Then the folder will be made and you just name it to replace the generic name of new folder.

Emailing the moving ones is trickier than posting them on the forum.

for posting on forum-
you have to be sure to copy the the correct "code"
after you click on the picture, scroll down a little to find it - it's below the advertisement box - then you just copy it and paste in your message box- or avatar - or in siggy.
screen shot
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...84/glitter.jpg
For the email
it was a bit trickier with Outlook Express than with the Thunderbird email program.
What kind of email program do you use?

for emails-
also you need to click the download image link right below the picture and then save it from there.
