Bizi's november thread

So November first was a restart of my journey to healthy eating and weight loss and no drinking. Low carbing, higher protein, intermittent fasting.Trying to eat more salads, I had a hamburger for lunch with out the bun and a side of chard. dinner was a pork chop and left over chicken alfredo with brocolli.
Wish me luck! day 3 not drinking alcohol, I chew lots of gum.

bizi 11-04-2021 07:12 PM

The last time I tried abstaining it lasted 10 days then I drank.
will see how far this goes.
I am drinking a non alcoholic beer and it taste pretty good!
bizi

Dmom3005 11-04-2021 08:04 PM

Bizi

I think just counting one more than last time is a success. So lets
start by you getting to 11. And then we can celebrate each day you
get to another.

Keep enjoying your non alcoholic drinks.

Donna :hug::grouphug:

bizi 11-04-2021 08:10 PM

thanks donna!
you are a peach!

bizi 11-05-2021 11:27 PM

so today makes day 5 of dieting and I have had
4 non alcoholic beers today. They are .4% per each
one so that is a total of 1.6% of alcohol.
My favorite one is called radler. made by partake brewing company.
It has citrus flavors and it is very good. and only 35 calories a "beer".
I think I have lost 4 pounds this week so far, water weight I know.
I am not snacking and limit my portions. For lunch today,

I had a grilled shrimp fahita salad it did not need extra dressing,
the other day I had a grilled salmon salad. It was delicious!
good night my friends
Jeff is out with friends and I need to get to bed

as I am working tomorrow, have to get up at 8am.
love, bizi

mymorgy 11-06-2021 01:09 AM

that is so wonderful. I hope you don't feel pressure this time and the solution doesn't sound terrible/ The food sounds delicious and so healthy. What was the shrimp?
Love
bobby

Dmom3005 11-06-2021 02:49 PM

I think you are doing great. Keep it up.

Donna :hug::grouphug:

bizi 11-06-2021 08:04 PM

Thanks ladies, The shrimp was grilled to perfection and the fahita was simply some peppers and onions over a big salad.

I eat most days at a health food cafe. excellent cooks and medium price for good organic veggies and health food.
They also have some groceries and fresh produce and vitamins and supplements.
I only eat there everything else is expensive.
I worked today but had time to go with hubby jeff and friend lucus

to our place that we have gumbo every saturdays......NO GUMBO
Darn it has been colder here 50's and 40's, We have already turned on the heat for nights.
Instead of gumbo a muffaletta jeff and lucus shared, I had a cabbage salad with chef salad but had them add the green olive mixture that they use in the muffs.
Boy it was good. I took home part of my salad I did not have time to eat.

For dinner WE ate chicken patties and steamed mushrooms. I have a feeling I am going to be hungry tonight. But won't eat anything I am drinking these non alcohol drinks that have only 10 calories per can. They actually taste like real beer with so few calories. cuts the cravings.

Our next door neighbors brought us a freshly baked pecan pie. completely not on my diet. so I did not have any I asked jeff if he would freeze it when he has had what ever amount that he wanted.
I saw 4 people today. made them all happy. makes me happy!

Did I tell you that a Dr. Gupta called me and wanted to refer to me some of her clients for foot care. I said sure just give them my phone number.
I should send her some of my business cards. must remember to do that.

Well that is my report for the day/evening.
thanks for following along with me.

bizi 11-07-2021 02:01 PM

I have been having more salads lately.
My weight this morning was 193.7 So the number is decreasing, I think I lost 4 pounds this week. Water weight but still nice to see the scale go down.
I really like the partake non alcoholic beers, only 10 calories a can.
and they taste decent.
Doing laundry, and need to go to the store to get some stamps so I can do billing.
I have a months to do. so it will take me a while/hours to do that.
so I had better sign off and get stamps.
have a good sunday.
bizi

mymorgy 11-07-2021 02:12 PM

you are doing incredibly well

Dmom3005 11-07-2021 02:32 PM

Donna

bizi 11-07-2021 09:46 PM

Did not feel like sausage for dinner so we went out to eat at chipotles. Had a bowl of carnitas pulled pork, onions and peppers,
pico, and hot sauce, sour cream and cheese. It was a big portion and ate it all. It was delicious.
I am drinking these non alcoholic beers and they are going down quite easily. maybe too easily.
I have had 6 which is 3% alcohol which is more than half a beer. I am thinking too hard about this half a beer.Over the course of
6 hours.
This is much better than Drinking regular beers. with so many calories and one is never enough.
I will stick to these partak brewery beers. I like the most is the radler ones with some citrus flavoring it has 35 calories.
The case has 4 flavors 3 of each one. Blonde, american pale ale, IPA, and then the radler.
I am going to have one more radler.
good night folks.
bizi

did 2 loads of laundry and 3 hours of billing.(not completely done but finished october billing and have left the rest of november billing when I get some to be billed in a week or two).

thanks bobby, still losing weight. 192.9 that is down 8 pounds in 2 months.
happy about this.
I thought my weight would be up since chipotle had a high sodium content. but I was down. so happy about this.

Sounds so good to be doing. I don't know could you take the drinks
your drinking if you go to trivia night. Would they allow you to
take them in and put them in a glass they use. I think that would
help you keep from drinking there beer.

Donna :hug::grouphug:

mymorgy 11-08-2021 01:32 PM

Dmom3005 11-09-2021 08:50 AM

Glad you liked it. I just know that you have a really hard time staying away from their beer. So take yours
with you.

mymorgy 11-09-2021 10:06 AM

you know i read that 45 percent of bipolars are alcoholics. Did you know that topamax may help binge drinking. such a hard task ahead of you.
love
bobby

Topamax (topiramate), an anti-seizure medication usually prescribed for people with epilepsy, is also prescribed for helping alcohol-dependent individuals stop drinking. It is used off-label for the treatment of alcoholism and alcohol use disorders, meaning that it is not FDA approved for this purpose.

i don't know if you ever tried it.

bizi 11-09-2021 10:52 AM

I am afraid of topamax....I already have cognitive decline.
thanks for bringing it up though.
love you
bizi

Dmom3005 11-09-2021 11:26 AM

Bizi

I didn't know topamax was known for cognitive decline?

Wow, that makes sense though it might have been one of
the things that caused Derrick's problems when he was
on it.

I'm just so blessed that it doesn't have that side effect for
me. I would be in trouble with my migraines if it did.

Donna :hug::grouphug:

mymorgy 11-09-2021 12:08 PM

i was on topamax for a while and it didn't cause cognitive decline with me.
again i forgot why i was taken off of it.
love
bobby

In general terms, all presented data suggest that up to 10% of patients treated with topiramate may complain of cognitive problems
eeks that is a lot.

Dmom3005 11-09-2021 04:36 PM

You know it would be really interesting to know the age of the
patients that have cognitive problems. Reason I say this is
its used a lot with seizures. Especially kids. So I'm wondering
if its mainly with kids and seizures.

Donna:hug::grouphug:

bizi 11-09-2021 09:58 PM

Donna, am glad that you take it for your headaches and you have not noticed any cognitive declines.
It does have the nick name of dopeamax.
I need meds that keep me sharp, all psych meds can have side effects.
I am on fewer meds than I have ever been on.And find myself stable.
bizi

Dmom3005 11-10-2021 02:19 PM

That is great that you are stable. And I really like that topamax
works for me. Its a fantastic find for me.

Donna

mymorgy 11-10-2021 03:46 PM

i didn't realize you are on topamax. may I ask why? does it help you with your appetite?

Wren 11-10-2021 04:48 PM

I took Topamax many years ago when it first was prescribed. I forgot food existed and lost a lot of weight. It did not help one bit with seizures.

Dmom3005 11-10-2021 08:24 PM

Bobby

I take it for my migraines. And it helps those. I lost about 25 lbs or 30
when I was first put on it. But I was already working to lose weight.

Yes, it is. I just keep trying to lose more. I've not been able
to really get much more so far. But I'm not stopping trying.

Its just going to take a while to keep doing it.

We made plans to get together with our friends who are also veterans. They restaurant hop to get free meals for veterans day. I swung by texas road house for a coupon for a free meal. and we went to bj brew house for dinner with them. It was really nice we had not seen brian for 5-6 months. I get together with melissa about once a month to go to lunch.
tonight I drank 3 partakes before dinner and then drank 2 heinikens 0.0 with dinner finishing up at 7:30 the time that I said I would not drink after.
The 0.0 have zero amount of alcohol but 69 calories that is 140 calories plus the partaks 30 x3 equals 90 calories. 230 calories for 5 beers less than one drink that I used to drink.
I am still following my guidelines.
That is what is important, to have control of my drinking behaviors.
enough about that.

jeff had a mini pizza, brian had chicken alfredo and melissa had parmesan cheese encrusted chicken, brocoli and mashed potatoes. She hardly ate any of it nor did brian. They both took home 3/4 of their meals jeff finished his pizza and I took home 3 thighs out of six and they had a spicy butter sauce it was very good. They were headed for wild buffalo wings for their free wings lol.

I am getting ready to go to bed have my night time routine that takes me 20-30 minutes to do then take my meds and go to sleep.

I need to get off of the computer.....
thanks for reading my post and following me on this journey toward better health. lost another pound, yay.
bizi

mymorgy 11-12-2021 03:19 AM

that is so great.you must have such an incredible metabolism. It so great about your not drinking. You do know don't you that drinking alcohol increases cognitive decline. I read even small amounts contribute to cognitive decline.
I mention this because you wrote you won't try topamax because 10 percent of the users have cognitive decline.
love
bobby

Brain damage is a common and potentially severe consequence of long-term heavy alcohol consumption. Even mild-to-moderate drinking can adversely affect cognitive functioning (i.e., mental activities that involve acquiring, storing, retrieving, and using information)

Many long-term effects of alcohol use can cause permanent damage to the brain, as well as to various organs. With intervention, brain damage may be reversible.
