Are you doing IT?

Got your attention didn't I? :D

I am very passionate about breast cancer prevention and a cure, of course. I am a member of Feel Your Boobies and think every woman should take a moment out each day to feel your girls and get to know them. It is thought that if more women felt their girls everyday they would become more aware of changes than if checking them once a month as recommended.

Not only is this site great, they also have a cool tshirt contest coming up to design their latest slogan! I think it would be great to get women here thinking about a design and what they would like to see and wear to promote breast cancer awareness.

Don't be shy, as soon as the contest is set up I will update and hope to see you all joining in with ideas. If you think you have a great design enter the contest! I'm entering and will post my design ideas as soon as I get a layout.

In the meantime, here is the website and information to get you acquainted with the site and what they stand for.

Bumping up! :bump:

Curious 02-12-2009 04:51 PM

Sandy, what about if one of us bumps it daily and all who feel their girls, hit the Thank You?

Like what we were doing on the monthly exam threads.

SandyC 02-12-2009 05:00 PM

Great idea!!!!!

redtail 02-12-2009 08:10 PM

Wow, what a great concept, to examine daily!!!!!
My Aunt was diagnosed late last year, and had a mastectomy, so I'm a little more aware.

I think this is a great idea. THANKYOU!!!

SandyC 02-13-2009 10:54 AM

:bump: I checked mine today!

tkrik 02-13-2009 11:04 AM

I never thought of checking daily. Thanks for the suggestion!

SandyC 02-14-2009 12:11 PM

SandyC 02-15-2009 01:02 PM

:bump: Come on girls! All you have to do is check the girls today and hit the thank you button.

SandyC 02-16-2009 12:41 PM

No :bump: here! :D

PS: I'm taking off a few days to do some demo on the bathroom. I will check daily. Can someone keep this going for a few days?

kicker 02-17-2009 07:28 AM

Bump, bump. Is there ANYONE who hasn't lost someone to Breast Cancer?

who moi 02-17-2009 10:11 AM

I'll make sure I check moss's everyday for her... :D ;)

it IS VERY important...guys(lurking dudes), if your ladies won't check their girls, please check it for them...and it might be FUN! :D

Curious 02-17-2009 10:14 AM

Moi, you need to check yourself too!!!! or have Moss do it. :D

Most men that get breat cancer die.:( It's not detected soon enough.

Yes Moi, you have boobs too. :p

who moi 02-17-2009 10:17 AM

*moi dashing off to check for his man-boobs...

*whispers to curious, "should I get some oil for moss?" ;)

:D

ewizabeth 02-17-2009 10:54 AM

Ok, I promise to check today, thanks for the reminder Sandy! My half-sister had breast cancer so I should be more diligent with this. Good thing I'm so under-endowed, at least it won't be time consuming. :p

tkrik 02-18-2009 12:26 PM

No bumps or lumps.;)

Twinkletoes 02-18-2009 12:48 PM

Sheesh, talk about trying to find a needle in a haystack.

I never check mine! A mammogram is going to have to find any cancer lumps, b/c I just can't differentiate between all the other lumpy stuff.

*walks quickly away, rather than runs, to avoid causing black eyes*

SandyC 02-19-2009 09:22 AM

Haha! Well, I broke my mirror so I can't do the demo properly. lol

*:bump: free today*

SandyC 03-04-2009 12:20 PM

:bump: free!

Where are your girls today?

dmplaura 03-05-2009 08:11 AM

What a great idea! How are your girls doing today? :)

SandyC 03-06-2009 11:35 AM

Good girls here today.

SandyC 03-12-2009 03:33 PM

Ok, there seems to be a slack movement upon us.

Have you hugged your girls today? Come on, you know you should.

Curious 03-12-2009 04:23 PM

I think this is a good idea. It helps to keep track of monthly changes. I can better determine what is a sore type lump due to being close to my period. It goes away.

I think if you check once at the same time each month, you may not know the difference.

Koala77 03-12-2009 07:43 PM

My cousin had a car accident about 18 months ago. Her only injuries were those inflicted by the seat belt, and one breast was especially bruised and painful. She was nursing her painful breast and felt a lump. Assuming it was related to the accident she wasn't overly worried, but did go to her doctor about a week later.

Yes, you guessed it. It was breast cancer, but she had not been checking her breasts, so had no idea how long that lump had been there. It was surgically removed but it obviously wasn't a new growth, as she had lymph involvement as well.

When she was at the doctor's 2 days ago she mentioned that her other breast was sore. The doctor examined the breast and found 2 small lumps. I could not believe it when she phoned me yesterday and told me that the doctor had found them. She hadn't even known they were there because she hadn't been checking her breasts! I was flabberghasted.

You'd have thought that SBE would have been on her agenda every month without fail.

I'll let you know the outcome after she's seen the specialist.

SandyC 03-13-2009 09:10 AM

I have fibrocystic breast so I am always massaging them because they hurt. It's true that I notice lumps that are cystic more by doing this because they come and go. I would be aware of one that doesn't go away. I have two on each side that are watched carefully every year that haven't gone away. The good news is they haven't grown. The bad news is they can so feeling them each day keeps me aware of changes.

Koala, sorry about your cousin.

SandyC 03-16-2009 06:07 PM

:bump: check

SandyC 04-17-2009 03:55 PM

:bump:

It's been a month! Check your girls today!

SandyC 04-22-2009 01:15 PM

:bump: check.

Koala77 04-23-2009 06:26 PM

Thanks for the reminder Sandy.

I've got a bit complacent lately and with my history of cancer in other areas, complacency is one thing I cannot afford.

So.... little girls checked? Tick :)

kicker 05-07-2009 01:09 PM

Sandy, i'm checking them right now, A friend died of breast cancer.

kicker 05-07-2009 01:13 PM

The girls are fine, everyone else, how's yours?

SandyC 05-07-2009 01:28 PM

Mine are good today Kicker! I am so sorry about your friend. Checking daily helps us to know ahead of time if anything changes.

Curious 05-07-2009 01:45 PM

Sore.

A few days before my period. My left breast is bigger than my right.

good thing for the new fashions...nice loose top to wear to Lil'Monkeys talent show tonight.

Weird thing..never had them lopsided before. It even was hotter than the other for 2 days.

tkrik 05-07-2009 02:40 PM

Scary moment yesterday while in the shower. I only check my monthly but as I was washing up I notice a tender area just above my left girl. I checked and there seemed to be a lump that was tender.:( I decided to not panic and wait a day or so and check again. Good news, it's gone today. Phew! I will be checking again tomorrow and possibly daily for the next week to see if there are any changes.

SandyC 05-07-2009 06:51 PM

Curious, is it still larger? It could be a duct infection or something.

LOL By the way, I have always been one hung low and gravity doesn't help! LOL

Trish, glad it went away! Scary. Checking daily isn't hard. Just get to know them and as you wash daily you start to get familiar with what is normal and what isn't. I do a daily check. I am so lumpy I have to know each one very well. LOL I like to think of it as a massage of sorts since the fibrocystic breast can be sore on a daily basis.

dmplaura 05-25-2009 10:21 PM

The girls are still there!! :)

SandyC 05-26-2009 10:29 AM

Mine too Dmplaura!

SandyC 06-07-2009 10:59 AM

:bump: free today!

Update on Feel Your Boobies t-shirt contest: It's not open for drawings yet. I am starting to wonder if they ever will?

SandyC 06-22-2009 07:45 AM

Still :bump: free. Going for the ol' smashing on Thursday. Hopefully this time I wont have to go back for a closer look. LOL
