Calm before the storm
 

about 1:00 there was a slight breeze in the air - well, in the last 20 minutes everything has been dead calm and we look out in the distance and the sky is just as black as it could be!!! It is getting dark and it is only 3:15!!!

is this what they call the calm before the storm? alls I can say is it is pretty darn freaky right now!!!! :eek:

no rain, no wind, no nothing!

Char, please be careful. The weather report said ya'll were in for some fierce storms. Make sure your cell phone is charged up. If you lose power will you call someone (you have my #) and let them know you're OK so we don't worry?

SOOOOO excited, but it's gonna be a tropical storm by the time it's here :p

Very calm and quiet here too right now, no wind at all. Very gray, light rain, but it doesn't look like anything much.

Yeah, I don't think Maine is gonna suffer much.

POOR Nova Scotia though :(

Thanks Kelly - everything here is fine! The wind is hardly blowing, raining lightly and all is well!! I heard it is down graded to Tropical Storm....

Just started to rain here. Course, it's 7pm as well, so I'm going to miss the cloud show because we're getting this overnight and Monday early. :(

Update. Rain, Elton John is playing here tonight. Hardly any wind YET... hope the power doesn't go out during the concert HAH.

I was dumbfounded and astonished by the sheer quantity of rain and wind.

luckily, I haven't (yet) seen a real hurricane here in the tropics.

As of 10pm we're seeing lots of rain and the winds blowing strong occasionally... shooting some video on my digital camera. Will make a video in the end when all is said and done so you can see ;)

The rain is blowing AWAY from my side of the building too, so I can stick my head out and shoot vid :D

Yes, our little ole TS Ike, with 75mph winds, here in Ohio, knocked our little socks off, too..:eek:

I just realized, if we lose power, I'm not going to be able to get good footage. :(

Laura, looks like the NB Power outages were below you in Sussex. I hope that is true and that today goes well for you.

All is well here in Maine. We didn't even lose our power! Got a rain but we had been getting rain since Friday! :eek: but hardly any wind at all....

Sadly we were hoping for some heavy wind to knock over the dead trees from the summer. This way if they get knocked over now they won't fall onto the power lines this winter and kill our power when it is 10 - 20 degrees outside with the wind blowing 30 mph! It sure helps the Power Company also, I am sure they would of rathered been out last night instead of the middle of January!

Moncton is in 1 piece, and my alarm woke up sleepy stormchaser without any issues this morning. But.... I am off to my appointment in half an hour. Then I'll have fun playing around with my footage and posting a video so you can see what we got here (it was WEAK).

I'll have to read the newspaper today after my appointment and see what damage NB got.

Stars were out last night at 2 a.m. No wind, no rain, it didn't rain all night!
There's patches of blue out there right now.

One thing I did notice this morning on my way home from work...I drove the same road last Thursday morning and I was marveling that the leaves hadn't changed. Today it was as if someone had splashed orange and red and yellow paint all of a sudden! Trees that were green last week are now turning FAST!

It was beautiful when I got up on a high hill and looked back over Penobscot Bay with all the colors...:)

same here! I love the beautiful colors of fall!!!

If it wasn't raining today, I'd be out shooting the trees. They're GORGEOUS here today as well. So thrilled!! :)

I'll fix up my video of what Moncton got. You'll laugh because it's nothing at all what was predicted for us. We didn't lose power. Not sure if anywhere in town did actually.

LOL, I don't know! I snack on Special K vanilla almond cereal and avoid the junk food aisle beyond picking up my bottled water and Trident Splash Vanilla Mint gum. :p

the first aisles to get cleared out here..water, soda's and junk food. :rolleyes:

we had a tornado watch that turned into a warning. even my husband brought home a bag of chips. we don't even eat chips!
