Happy Australia Day to all of our Aussie members.

I hope you enjoy the celebrations.

Alffe 01-25-2009 05:48 PM

And how are you going to celebrate this day Anne?

Koala77 01-25-2009 05:54 PM

Me in particular, or Australia?

For myself, DH and I will have a BBQ which is traditional, and lamb is always the meat they tell us to put on our BBQs; that and prawns! Yum! Then I think we'll probably watch the cricket.

For Australia, each state holds citizenship ceremonies. There will be BBQs all over the country and most started with breakfast. There are parades, sporting events, re-enactment performances, boat regattas and just about every other type of outdoor event.

It's a fun day with outdoor activities, and usually each town holds it's own celebrations to which hundreds of people turn out.

HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY

Iam sitting listening to Triple J's Hottest 100(an alternative radio station that counts down the hottest songs from the previous year ie 2008)
I've just finished making lammingtons, which Iam taking to watch the fireworks in Bunbury tonight with my big Sister. Other than that a quiet day.

Koala77 01-25-2009 08:41 PM

I used to listen to Triple J before we moved to Tasmania, so I know what a good station it is.

With all the Aussie food we got, I forgot the lamingtons! Drat! :(

Enjoy your day redtail.

My sister won a radio contest once for the worst ever recipe with her lamingtons!

She had made the cake according to the recipe, and covered the squares of cake with the chocolate coating that she'd made, but could not for the life of her, get the coconut to stick.

She'd only used a gravy powder (Gravox) instead of cocoa in her "chocolate" mix. :D

Happy Australia Day to all you Aussies. I hope your day of celebration was wonderful.

This reminds me of a friend who had spent the day, and probably half the night harvesting, and made a yummy roast lamb, and made gravy, but used custard powder instead of gravox!!!!! does this count as dinner and dessert in one??:D

Mmmm my lamingtons have been taste tested and are yummy, and as soon as I've uploaded my pictures, I will add some photos to my albums.
