Your motivational songs? Songs to help you fight?

Music is so soothing and healing for me.

I saw a thread a few weeks ago on another forum about songs related to their MS fight. A lot of them were GREAT. Since then, I have been compiling a good number of songs on my MySpace page (you can go there to view all of them and listen to them). BUT, I came across the greatest song. OMG, it is wonderful, beatulful, and just so moving and touching.

It is sung by Josh Groban, called, "Let me Fall." Here are the lyrics:

Let me fall
Let me climb
There's a moment when fear
And dreams must collide

Someone I am
Is waiting for courage
The one I want
The one I will become
Will catch me

So let me fall
If I must fall
I won't heed your warnings
I won't hear them

Let me fall
If I fall
Though the phoenix may
Or may not rise

I will dance so freely
Holding on to no one
You can hold me only
If you too will fall
Away from all these
Useless fears and chains

Someone I am
Is waiting for my courage
The one I want
The one I will become
Will catch me

So let me fall
If I must fall
I won't heed your warnings
I won't hear

Let me fall
If I fall
There's no reason
To miss this one chance
This perfect moment
Just let me fall

Some other songs I have are: Stand by Rascall Flatts, Its your life by Bon Jovi, One X by three days grace, eye of the tiger by survivor, I hope you dance by leeann womak, so small and jesus take the wheel by Carrie Underwood, everyone hurts by REM, Hands by Jewel, Invincable by Pat Benatar, It gets better, Bring on the rain, and not going down by Jo Dee Messina Don't stop dancing by creed, Unwritten by Natasha bedingfield, if you want me to by Ginny Owens and a host of others.

So, what are some songs to give you the umption to face this day, this battle?

I don't have the lyrics handy, but one I use alot when exercising or biking is "Bleed it Out" by Linkin Park. Probably not exactly what you were searching for with "motivational" songs, but it is one that keeps me moving when I want to get lazy and slow down or quit early.

It's Raining Men !!!!
Hallelujah
It's Raining MEN

God bless Mother Nature
She's a single woman too !!!

That song just gets me pumped !!!! :D

"Remedy" by the Black Crowes. Gets me moving!! :D

It is not the video for the song but the snow leopards are beautiful, there are a few flashes in this if anyone has trouble with that.
Move Along by All American Rejects http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gof4EWhRxUA

and now, a sappy moment from me...this song came on the radio when we were on the way to get my blood test and spinal tap results, to find out if I had MS or not...it spoke to me then and has ever since...

I also like this video for it, that jokes about what people might think the lyrics are. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5Vsn1NdKrU

Another favorite is Mexican Wine by Fountains of Wayne http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4blhM9IU3A
Mainly for the chorus with the last line of the last verse
Now I'm retired and I think that's fine.
The sun still shines in the summertime,
I'll be yours if you'll be mine,
I tried to change, but I changed my mind,
Think I'll have another glass of Mexican Wine

I have still not found mexican wine in a store, I enjoy sangria and pretend. There is a story there, but not for now.

And of course the retired line sets the stage for Bittersweet by Big Head Todd and the Monsters http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpVWoF57sZg which was exactly how I felt when approved for social security disability. Although I first heard that song on a fake beach and lagoon played live.

Enough of my musical memories for now...;)

Who has one to help ease my anger, my pain or any of the other emotions that I'm feeling right now after my brother's death?

I'm just so mixed up!

FinLady 05-15-2008 08:27 AM

Weathered by creed is a good one I listen too.

OY! I have too many songs all based on the emotion I'm on. We have a very large music collection.

But the artists Creed, Three Days Grace, and 3 Doors Down are the ones I listen to the most when I'm having an off day.

Honey - I so wish there was a song that would make your pain easier. I am so very sorry for what you are going through. I wish there were something I could do besides give you a cyber

I hope you can begin to find some peace and joy through this time. Although it is difficult to see through your grief and anger now, healing will come.

how could i forget this classic... Angels Wings by Social Distortion..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0yXCMCTrXY

this is the acoustic version but i really thinks it gets the feeling across better then the electric version.

You say you're down on your luck
hey baby, its a long, long way up
hold back now, hold back your fears
you say you're really down and out
and you feel like there's no way out now
let go now let go of your tears some more

How many times have you asked yourself
is this the hand of fate that I've been dealt?
you're so disillusioned this can't be real
and you can't stand now the way you feel

I don't care about what they say
I won't live or die that way
tired of figuring out things on my own
angel's wings wont you carry me home

[Chorus:]
And when you're down on your luck
hey baby, its a long, long way up
hold back now, hold back your fears
and when you're really down and out
and you feel like there's no way out now
let go now let go of your tears some more

[Repeat Chorus]

I triumphed in the face of adversity
and I became the man I never thought I'd be
and now my biggest challenge, a thing called love
I guess I'm not as tough as I thought I was

I don't care about what they say
I'm gonna marry you some day
go ahead and wake up, its a brand new day
Angel's wings gonna carry you away
Angel's wings are going to carry me away
Angel's wings are going to carry us away

I always liked "Take this job and shove it" :D

Kidding aside, I like happy songs, to bring me up when I'm down. I only like so called motivational songs, if I'm having a pity party.....and lots a beer and pizza..:p

I'd not even heard that one before and after a few stops and starts, was able to listen to it all the way through.

What a beautiful song. Thank you.

I hadn't remembered Bridge Over troubled Waters either AMN, and that was actually a favourite in days gone by. Thank you for helping me remember.

"You'll Never walk alone", still sends chills up and down my spine.

Of all the versions and there were many, I think I like Humperdinks the best...

My best friend lost her 19 yr old son, within three days, to a tumor. This song was out at the time and I used to blast it up on my stereo and sing & dance to exhaustion:

My best friend died a few years later, probably partially because of a broken heart. I still listen to this song and think about them both now.

This is the song that gets me going the most:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=602F1Db-uLY

It reminds me of when I used to be in dance competitions in the bars.

Oh, oh . . . now you've got me going!

I love this one, especially the "Usher" part at the end:

HEY MAN NICE, NICE SHOT!!! LOVE it :D:D! Thanks Moose! That song is just what I need today. The whole album, Short Bus, is great. I saw Filter a few years back (quite a few, teehee) they were fantastic. I love the loud stuff too, especially NIN!
