School's starting up

That means I probably won't be on here too much. I have In-Service Mon. and Tue. and the kids start Wed.

Luckily the weather has been real cool. I'm crossing my fingers it does not heat up this week.

Good luck to everyone on their journey with MG.

I am sooo jealous. This will be the first year in over 20 years that I will not be at the school on the first day of school. {either as a volunteer or employee} :(

I will be thinking of you and hope you have a strong and happy first week, I know how exciting it can be so enjoy it as much as you can but watch yourself and don't over do it!

Scots Kat 08-24-2009 11:01 AM

Have a great first week back! We started last monday and my body adjusted no problem. I hope you have a fantastic year and are able to check in now and again!
Take care!
~Kathy

Good luck back to school. Both of my parents were teachers, so I understand what it takes to teach. It's hard work. Make sure that you sit when you can! And keep that Cold-Eeze and Purell on hand.

Annie

So far so good. Temps have been in the 60s! My room temp has dropped from 85 to about 78. LOL We can't keep it open at night to cool it off. I have 5 fans blowing. These first 3 days we get out 2 hours early (1:15 pm) that is scheduled in every year in anticipation of heat, but didn't need it this year. We then have inservice (meetings) for 2 hours, I get to sit during that time, but I just want to put my head down and take a nap. :) I have been getting to bed pretty early every night.

I have to give my students a little history of my health, that way I avoid comments of "what's wrong with your eye" all day long.

We'll go full boar next week, 5 full days. Then the next week we have Labor Day off and the day after we have inservice, another day of sitting.

Friday night is my son's first high school football game. He is in 9th grade, they play before the varsity. It's on the road, about a 70 mile drive.

Joan this was the start of my 20th year. Last year, I didn't start the year due to my thymectomy.

GI6607, I enjoy hearing about your daughter's accomplishments.

I'm keeping my hands clean and so far no flu outbreak in our school. Thanks everyone for the well wishes and take care.

Glad to hear things have started well! Good luck next week - 5 days can be tiring, but I'm sure you'll be great.

Talking about flu - our school has swine flu.... the kids have started missing days already. The region has told us that it will come in two waves, the first hitting late Sept. Apparently they think about 50% of the pupils will be affected. I had a "flu" in July so I'm praying it was swine flu and now I'm immune.

Hope everyone is well!
~Kathy

Hey Trish,

I'm so happy to hear that your school year has started out on such great footing! I think that you're going to have a great year with ever-improving health!

I wish you lots of luck!
Nicky:)

Hi Erin,
I'm good - and yes I'm being very careful. Washing my hands constantly and using antibacterial lotion all the time (I bought some when I was home in the summer at Bath and Body Works, so yummy smelling). One of the nearby schools is apparently going to close for a month to try to combat the spread, but we are trying to muddle through!

Anyways, don't worry about me - how are you? I messaged you on FB - I don't want you to worry about your updated status. I'm sure only good will come of it - they are obviously taking things seriously and looking out for your best interest. Take care Erin and don't worry! Those prayers are still flowing your way!

Thanks for the words about my daughter. Just to let you know, my doc at Alegent called the other day and told me that they have me on the top of the shot list when they get some swine flu vaccine in. The doc stated I am pretty susceptible to illness. I wonder if the medicines they have me taking make me more susceptible to infections. Anyway, working at the school you should take the vaccine as soon as you can. I hope your son did well at the football game last night. I was in Brookings S.D. yesterday moving our oldest back to college and it was downright cool with a low forecast of 49 degrees!

Kathy!

Hey Kathy! I m so glad to hear you are being extra cautious and smelling FABULOUS @ the same time! LOL! I just love Bath and Body Works - they have the best stuff!:D

Got your message on FB - thank you for that! I was just freaking out......just a bad night! Mike and I talked it over and he is right, Dr. I is always very cautious and that is a wonderful thing.

He also gave me the green light to see my niece, so I cannot be that bad off - this is a man who makes me take every precaution.

Take care and thank you!
Erin:D
