A cure for insomnia
Sleep it off. Medical advice from Groucho Marx in "Night at the Opera." |
And here I thought I was going to read something that would really help me right now as I sit here at 1:55 a.m. reading this board as I try to get tired enough to go back to bed. This really was some wise words of wisdom, though. You just need to get to sleep in order to sleep it off.
Thanks, David.:Zzzz: |
David
I could willingly strangle you after the night I had last night. sigh.. I thought when I clicked on the subject, there would be some new medical help or some of your words of wisdom. Stay out of the New Year's Champagne.:)

sounder sleep
Every time my feldenkrais worker worked on me I fell asleep, and I'm an old insomniac. She is credentialed to teach seminars in something called the Sounder sleep system, which has to do with tiny, repetitive, rocking movements before sleep.
Anyway, it really helped, so here's a link: http://www.soundersleep.com/start.php |

As Groucho said, "Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know." |

And that's the most ridiculous thing I EVER hoid.
I only wish we had a secret woid to say that could help us ease the condition.

I've tried them all, Lunesta, Dalmane, even Xanax at night
Since everybody here is talking about Groucho Marx and SOMEBODY NEEDS TO SLEEP, please allow me to give you my experience.
Having been a lifelong non-sleeper (ever since I was a baby), I would drive my mother crazy. She would say: "you never slept, you kept us up all night". Well, it didn't get any better as I grew up. Being somewhat neurotic, phobic and I do have my anxieties, well the mind never quiets down. The first time a doctor gave me an ambien I thought I died and went to heaven. Can you imagine putting your head on the pillow at 11 p.m. and wake up at 7 a.m. the next morning. Never did that in my life. I would still be taking it today if I could afford it. He gave me samples of Lunesta. Did nothing. I snuck some of Alan's flurazepam (Dalmane). and that does the trick right now. It's either that or take Xanax before I retire. While Xanax is not a sleeping pill, it relaxes me and I get a good night's sleep. So because Alan doesn't take the Flurazepam any more, I use it and I sleep just fine. I sleep from 11 till 8:30 in the a.m. I get a GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP. My doctor know's this. Now that I have moved on to Dr. Fred, when i have my first appointment with him, I'll discuss my insomnia with him. I once read that sleep is absolutely essential for the health of the body. We need to be sleeping through the night, not getting up 5 or six times and walking the floor. Just some information for you guys. Mel |
That's too funny. . .
Ohhh - not your insomnia, Mel. That's horrible and I join you in the years of not sleeping. Mine started in college as I was the floor R.A. and when on duty, was up all night putting my drunk and stoned freshmen girls to bed and chasing boys off the floor.
BUT DAVID - YOU ARE A VERY FUNNY GUY. YOU MADE ME LAUGH AND THE PAIN WENT AWAY FOR A MINUTE !! THX, nancyh |
