Yikes, Kitty!

Your town was just on the Weather Channel--are you flooded out?? Hope you're okay! I'm still bug-eyed!

My cousins are supposed to fly out of Boston back to Atlanta today...they should stay in Vermont! (For a while, anyway).

Koala77 09-22-2009 05:10 AM

I just read about it in a news article. It looks terrible!

I hope everyone who lives in the area is safe, without harm to pets or property.

I hope you're not flooded out Kitty, and thank you B2U for highlighting the problem.

Cok is in Georgia too, isn't she? I hope give a holler when they can.

Dejibo 09-22-2009 08:23 AM

my family is in NC and they said its really bad up there, they cant imagine how bad it is in Georgia.

My Alabama friend said she is in good shape.

Come on Georgia folks, ring the bell and let us know you are ok!

SandyC 09-22-2009 08:44 AM

Kitty checked in on Insights and said her backyard is flooded and they can't take much more rain. I am sure she'll check in here. My aunt lives in Mableton and we need to call her today. Prayers going out for all.

stay safe dear Kitty!

Ditto for me. I hope you are spared....

Stay safe Kitty!

Praying hard those clouds hold their water and move on out into the Atlantic! I was watching the radar on the weather channel ... more storms moving across the south today. We are good here in north AL right now. But I sure see alot of big dark clouds pushing through our area. Some spots get down pours, others get nothing. Then it gets to east AL and GA and turns loose on them. And to think we had such severe drought conditions the last two years!

 Kelly, praying you and your sons are safe. I know they are out in this stuff working/helping.

Kitty 09-22-2009 09:29 AM

I'm OK!! :) It's been rough and I can't believe that less than a mile from my house people are being rescued by boat and one woman was killed. It's just unbelievable. The Governor is on TV right now addressing the damage. I've been praying hard since all this rain started and we've been spared....thank you Lord.......but those who live near creeks or rivers weren't as fortunate.

GMA broadcast their show from GA today but local news kept breaking in so I didn't get to see much of it.

Momma lives in far south GA so I believe she was out of the flooded area but I wish she'd check in and let us know she's alright. She was in the ER on Saturday night and her DH starts a new job out of state soon.

Sandy, Mableton is SW of me (by about 65 miles) and they were hit hard. An elementary school in that area is completely under water. Please let us know how your family is doing.

It's sunny out right now but we have at least a 50% chance of rain each day this week. Let's hope and pray the sunny half wins out! Thanks, ya'll, for checking on all of us here in the (sunny???) South!

I'm in Augusta , east of Atlanta, we've had lots of rain but no flooding. It seems to be dumping on the northwestern part of the state and then moving north from there. I've gotta pick up DH tomorrow at the Atlanta airport, does any one know how that area is?

Kitty stay safe and keep praying!

By the Grace of God my DS's off days were Sunday, Monday and today. He called his sergeant and told him that he'd be willing to come in and help if they needed him. I have to admit that I prayed hard that they wouldn't ask him to come in and they didn't. :o It's so dangerous out there.

The schools are still closed today. One elementary school in Powder Springs is completely under water!

I thought about you, too, Pam and hoped ya'll were okay. I know all this weather comes through your area first (usually). I'm glad to hear that you're safe.

(((((((((Kelly))))))))
I tried to start a thread yesterday about this, but I goofed and put Southwest instead of southeast..

Take Care, Y'All..

What is it about Georgia? Wasn't your state in the drought of the century a year or so ago? Now you are under water??? And they say everything is bigger in Texas! I think that fits Georgia with precipitation (or lack of)! Just a little attempt at humor there.

I think it was about 8 years ago when Hurricane Ivan made it clear up to Pittsburgh (not at hurricane force). We had tremendous flooding but it only lasted a day. It was devastating to so many who lost everything. I can't imagine days of it. That would be terrifying. I pray that your rain lets up really soon and that you don't have any damage from it.

Kitty 09-22-2009 02:55 PM

It hasn't rained all day here today. I hope I didn't just jinx it by saying that. We need a few warm days to dry everything out. The ground is so saturated that large trees are now falling everywhere. Luckily I have no large trees directly beside my house.....just smaller Bradford Pears, Dogwoods and a few Crepe Myrtles.

Hopefully this nightmare is coming to an end.

karousel 09-22-2009 03:37 PM

Kitty so glad you are safe. I will keep praying for everyone near and in the flood waters.

SandyC 09-22-2009 06:10 PM

I haven't heard from our aunt yet. I am on it trying to get information. I saw a pic of Mableton and some houses were covered to the roofs. I am sure the lines are down too so that's why it's so hard to get a hold of her.
