Hello Austin and welcome to NeuroTalk. I'm sorry that you're going through these symptoms at the moment. What you described can be brought on by stress, but I think it's good that you're getting this test done to ease your mind.
CT scans are not scary, or painful in any way. You simply lie down on the XRay table and the scanner takes a series of cross-sectional photos. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to your appointment. Some places require you to change into a hospital gown, where others don't. Metal objects including jewelry (piercings too), spectacles, and dentures can affect the CT images and should be left at home or removed prior to your scan. You may also be asked to take out any removable dental work. Good luck with the results. Let us know how you get on. |

Hello Austin. Your scan seems pretty good.
People can get odd feelings in the face (tingling/numbness) if their calcium level is low. So make sure you eat yogurt once a day (400mg there) and drink juices with calcium added (like Minute Maid w/calcium) and eat your veggies. You can take a supplement too if you want. Also at your age, a stroke is not common. But if you are low in B vitamins, you can develop elevated homocysteine levels, which irritate the blood vessels. This can lead to blocked arteries as you age. So it is good insurance for you to take a B-50 complex of your choice once a day in the morning. This may help your anxiety some too. |

Welcome to the forum Austin! :)
http://dl.glitter-graphics.net/pub/1...hoc3cu0hbt.gif I have a bit of experience with this since my mom had strokes later in life. They saw the damage on the MRI and I think it showed up on the CT scan as well. I agree with MrsD. It's very rare for strokes to happen in people your age. It will help you to feel a bit better though if you eat healthy foods, take your vitamins and get regular exercise as long as you don't have any condition that limits physical activity. When I was in my early 20s, my sister had a brain aneurysm and I often worried that the same thing was going to happen to me. So I decided I was going to take extra good care of myself to lessen the chances of that or other illnesses. I hope you'll start to feel better soon. There are lots of nice people here so maybe you'll make some friends if you look through the forums. Take care. |

As mrsD said, Vitamin deficiency could give you the symptoms that you've been getting, or stress could bring them on. It sounds like you haven't been back yet to see your doctor to get the official report of your scan. Hopefully when that happens your doc will be able to ease your mind. |

Do you play a lot of computer games or x box games?
repetitive motion things?? sitting for long stretches of time with bad posture??? Sometimes those activities can cause symptoms in your arms- the nerves or blood flow can get affected by the static postures. { not a lot of movement to keep things flowing like they should.} sleeping with arms in certain positions can make your arms go numb. a certain % of people will lose the blood flow to the arms when arms are above the head. |
Hi Austin
the very best thing you can do is to get your parents to take you back to the doctor to discuss your CT scan and you can tell him your concerns did you know that even stress can cause the symptoms you are describing... it may just be that you are so worried that you are getting what is known as "psychosomatic" symptoms often, when we read up on stuff on the Internet, we can imagine the worst! I hope your doctor will be able to set your mind at rest |

Aw, there's not much we can do from online! You need to talk to your parents and see the doctor! You're making me feel bad, I have two sons! :girl(sad): Talk to your parents or talk to the school nurse if this happens at school.

If the drs, testing and your parents feel you are ok -- then the next step is to talk with parents about your extreme anxiety on this health issue. |
Well, I think you should have your blood sugar tested.
You could be starting with diabetes. Type II now is showing up in teens, and you mention you are overweight. I'd get that checked for sure. |

hey Austin,
You have been given some great replies, but one thing that really i have to question is your benzo use, as you did say you in a few post above you were on a 2 week benzo withdrawal, and they are a serious medicine and depending on your usage the withdrawal could be possibly responsible for a lot of your issues. Please talk with your doc's about it, and also if you have a problem with over taking med please check into other support groups , they have young peoples recovery groups all over the place. Just a thought. I wish you the best , Please be careful. Ouch |
