Our Sheltie

our 13 year old shetie had a stroke today.... so scary.... he is in the vet hospital.... Not for sure what the future will hold for our furbaby..... :(

reyn 10-13-2009 10:44 PM

((Goofy) my heart goes out to you. I hope that your Sheltie may have your love and comfort during this period. There is nothing that compares to the love relationship between human and pet . . .

BlueMajo 10-14-2009 12:14 AM

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. I know he's a big part of your family and we hate to see them suffer. We are all thinking about you and your Sheltie. Barbo

ahhhh Goofy... my heart goes out to your family and your sheltie

FeelinGoofy 10-14-2009 11:08 AM

I called a little while ago and he hasn't had any more seizures and no more vomiting.... just very weak and very sleepy..... We've already decided that we will not allow him to suffer. Rick and I are going up to see him in a little while after we go visit my FIL who is still in rehab.... my BIL is still here too. Life is pretty crazy right now LOL

doxiemama 10-14-2009 11:09 AM

(((Goofy))), thinking about sheltie, you, and your family. You are all in my prayers.

Nik-key 10-14-2009 02:42 PM

So sorry...our Sheltie did the same thing this past May. She was also 13 and going deaf. We had to put her down and buried her in the back yard under the corkscrew will tree. He name was Bow...hope things go well for you sweet dog.

Goofy:

Wren 10-15-2009 08:33 AM

 Goofy - how is he doing today? I hope it's WELL.

FeelinGoofy 10-15-2009 07:06 PM

wow.... that photo looks alot like our caspian LOLOL..... but then i guess most shelties look alike LOL.... WELL.... the vet is saying that he did not have a stroke, but they do not know yet why he was vomiting so much. She sid the vomiting is what brought on the seizures.... Rebecca and I went to see him today and they said he had a very long seizure last night and they have put him on phenibarb ( i know i spelled it wrong) He did, on his own, get out of the cage and walk over to me today then walk around a bit but is so weak that he collapsed and just layed there and rolled over on his back for me to scratch his tummy. I dont know what is going to happen with our poochie, but like i already said we will not allow him to suffer :(.... He is such a sweet gentle dog.

Addy 10-16-2009 12:55 AM

ah... how sad for all of you

FeelinGoofy 10-16-2009 10:24 AM

WELL..... the vet just called and Caspian passed away a little while ago... :(
I'm sure going to miss him......:(

Nik-key 10-16-2009 10:43 AM

((Goofy)) I am so very sorry to hear you lost your sweet Caspian. I know you said you wouldn't want him to suffer, Perhaps God made the choice for you so you wouldn't have to. I hope you find comfort in your memories:hug: Keeping you and your family in my thoughts  Nikki

The rainbow bridge is perfect and most of us have seen it. This is a different poem a friend sent to me when I lost my furbaby and I thought I would share it with you.

Treasured Friend

I lost a treasured friend today

The little dog who used to lay

His gentle head upon my knee

And shared his silent thoughts with me.

He’ll come no longer to my call

Retrieve no more his favourite ball

A voice far greater than my own

Has called him to His golden throne.

Although my eyes are filled with tears

I thank Him for the happy years

He let him spend down here with me

And for his love and loyalty.

When it is time for me to go

And join him there, this much I know

I shall not fear the transient dark

For he will greet me with a bark.

FeelinGoofy 10-16-2009 01:22 PM

Caspian

I'm so sorry for your loss, Goofy.

reyn 10-16-2009 07:38 PM

It is a painful loss. Goofy, I'm so sorry about Caspian. I felt comfort when I read the posts about the possibility of Caspian joining Cooper and the two of them, with all of our beloved pets, being together.

doxiemama 10-16-2009 08:39 PM

Oh Goofy, I'm so sorry to hear about Caspian, I agree with everyone else, he met up with Cooper and they are frolicking together.

MandaC 10-28-2009 06:21 PM

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. We will be putting our sheltie, Sammy down in a couple of days. I'm going back to my home town just to see him. I'm so heartbroken.

Doody 10-28-2009 06:55 PM

(((goofy darlin))) I am so very sorry. :( Ducky just lost her precious furbaby Ginger as well. And then of course Mr. and Mrs. Alffe. Sigh. Precious little ones. Such comfort they give us.

Koala77 10-28-2009 10:48 PM

I know you already received my sympathy and prayers, but I wanted to repeat them here. One can never have enough love when the going gets tough.

Hope you're feeling a little better. Please know I'm thinking of you all.

(((((((((((Goofy)))))))))))))

 Thinking about you...

Today, one year ago, I lost my first dog, my first pet... the one who showed me that it is possible to live minute by minute and enjoy simple things like a walk... I still miss her like crazy... but, you said it, they are in doggies heaven running after balls...

((((HUGS))))
