Doc just called. I'm starting Ty on Monday!

And now that all of my friends and family are freaking out on me and telling me how much they don't want me to start this drug.... :(

But I am determined to be optimistic! Monday is the day. Any advice I should know? Things they don't tell ya?

Hooray Legzz! :) I hope you'll get good results from Tysabri. Your friends and family shouldn't worry, most of the PML cases happened after about 24 infusions. Between now and then, there will very likely be a better alternative for you to take.

Make sure you're well hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Expect to rest afterward, because you might get tired after the infusion.

good for you legzz.
i hope T helps you. please keep us posted on how you're feeling.

What Wiz said! :)
Relax, hydrate, and rest afterwards. Bring something to keep you busy during the infusion and the wait afterwards, or catch up on your sleep!

Let us know how it goes. :grouphug:

Are they doing any prelimitary testing for JV or other factors now?

I hope it helps you. Legzz..

No clue. I know there will be bloodwork. I was told to expect to be there for at least 3 hours. They have determined I need a slow drip since my veins like to explode. On the plus side... Because it is done in the hospital, ins should cover it at 100% with no copay since I have already reached me deductible.

First infusion down.... Let's see, it really wasn't as bad as I expected. I have a headache and I have the creepy crawly skin that is normally just my legs that has taken to my whole body. But I don't feel sick like I did with the interferons. The back pain has increased but I think that is a combo of lack of sleep and increased fluids.

Although... the decision to skip the coffee and drink a gallon of water yesterday and another 32 oz this morning... still blew 2 veins! Next month I am taking my coffee!

And the warden (aka DH2B) is insisting that I go take a nap. He says we can do it the easy way or the hard way.... So I am going to be a good girl and go to bed before he breaks out with the police/ Army tactical training. :p

NurseNancy 11-23-2009 02:36 PM

i'm glad it went well legz,

i hope the T helps you feel better and you'll have a great holiday season. :)

legzzalot 11-23-2009 04:32 PM

Holy Crow! So naptime was weird. I had the weirdest dream and I could not get up when my alarm kept going off. I had my cell phone in my hand and still missed 2 calls. Good thing the Warden was here. I am absolutely drained. Aside from that I don't feel so bad. Just wiped out.

On the plus side I get to go see my chiro in about an hour...:D

Welcome to the club. I've had two infusions so far, and they both went fine. I did get really thirsty after the first, but then found out about hydration. I wish you all the best, legzz!
