Wrecked my car

Yep, I was in a hurry and began to slow down when I saw a bunch of cars backed up at an intersection. But it was too little, too late: I smacked the vehicle that was turning left right in front of me!

I pulled my car to the curb and had to turn it off because of the ugly noise that was coming from under the hood. I'm kinda of glad the airbag didn't deploy, but the impact caused me to smack my head on the sunvisor or windshield. (Yes, I was wearing my seatbelt!)

I recognized the other driver when she came to my window to see if I was okay: she belongs to the lady that used to cut my hair (until she died of cancer). The girl, Amy, is a sweetheart and (years ago) went to the Jr. Prom with my very bashful son (the date was lined up by his friend).

I dialed 911 on my cellphone and 4 police cars were there in about 5 minutes. Turns out that the car I hit smacked into another vehicle (I don't think there was much damage, tho').

I'm okay, but shaken. I gotta snap out of it because I have company coming for dinner in less than 2 hours. Ugh. All I want to do is go to bed. *sigh*

BTW, I'm driving a 2009 Nissan Altima until they decide what's going to become of my 2004 Ford Taurus. The damage isn't severe, but it'll be a close call whether or not it gets totalled. I JUST BARELY MADE THE LAST PAYMENT ON IT A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO!

I kind of hope it does get totalled, though. I owned a car that (unbeknownst to me) had been in a wreck. The tires wore unevenly and I was always having to get the wheels aligned.

Okay, that's my report. Going to fix dinner now.

Wow, Ro...I'm glad you're alright. Take care of your neck. You must have been jerked kinda hard to hit your head on the windshield. Lots of times neck injuries don't show up immediately. Take it easy and I hope you're fixing something easy to prepare for supper!

ewizabeth 12-02-2009 05:49 PM

Yikes Twinks! I'm glad you didn't get hurt worse but I think you should get checked out tomorrow just in case? Don't overdo it on the dinner!

Aarcyn 12-02-2009 06:01 PM

Geez, Twink. I am REALLY glad it was a fender bender rather than anything more serious. Dinner should be extra delicious tonight.

legzzalot 12-02-2009 06:18 PM

Ok Twink...no head banging to death metal for at least 3 days! Glad you are ok.

mrsD 12-02-2009 06:26 PM

I am so glad you are not hurt. But I do understand the other feelings you are going thru!

Jules A 12-02-2009 07:11 PM

Sending good thoughts your way. Please check back in with us when you can.

DM 12-02-2009 07:23 PM

Dang it~ Stinks when things like that happen, but glad your'e not hurt. Remember~ it's just metal, glass & plastic, so it can be replaced, but you can't. Have a glass of wine at dinner and try to relax. Take care.

tkrik 12-02-2009 07:25 PM

Phew!!! I am so glad you are OK.:hug: How scary for you. Take it easy tonight and think about getting checked out tomorrow.

AfterMyNap 12-02-2009 07:37 PM

Well, that just bites but it's good that you walked away unharmed.

Riverwild 12-02-2009 07:47 PM

Cars can be replaced.

Twinks are irreplaceable. Hope the DH is keeping an eye on you tonight and tomorrow.

Earl 12-02-2009 07:49 PM

I'm sure glad you are OK, but it is another case that OLD people shouldn't have licenses. Stick to the city bus, lol.

Jodylee 12-02-2009 07:51 PM

Aw Ro, I'm so sorry  . I'm so glad you and everyone else are ok.

I know your first thoughts are "I'm ok. I don't need to go to the doc". I've done the same thing and then regretted it later. I really hope you'll consider going tomorrow and at least get an x-ray of your neck. Pretty please :). I'll be thinkin' about you!

I'm so glad that you weren't seriously hurt!! Let us know how you are feeling tomorrow so we'll know you are okay.

freeinhou 12-02-2009 08:23 PM

Woman driver's....

I wouldn't say this if you weren't a friend...

I guess I should go read the first post to see what happened...

Thanks friends (and Earl, SMACK! Like there's a city bus in a town of two thousand, lol!)

Really, I AM fine. My emotions were getting the best of me earlier (I was crabby!), but one young friend stayed after dinner and helped me decorate for Christmas.

The stuffed pork chops I baked were some I picked up at the meat counter a couple of days ago, so that was very easy. I sliced an apple, washed some grapes and heated up 2 cans of green beans and that was it. I made a banana cream pie the day before and it was very well received.

DH is in the kitchen right now loading the DW, bless his lil heart!

I have to work tomorrow, but only until 2:00, so that won't be bad. Thanks so much for your concern. :)

Loading the Dear Wife? What's he loading you with? Shots to make you feel better, left over banana cream pie (which sounds delicious right now)?:D j/k

Glad you are doing OK this evening.

I am terrified to bump my car into anything. its an 86 Acura with 170k miles on it. yep, I need some work on a headlight, but even a scratch on the sucker, and they would total it on the books. I wouldnt want a new payment either Ro.

I am so happy you are ok. Please take good care of my friend. I hope you were able to get some rest. Hugs and prayers for you.
