Endoscopy/Colonoscopy on Tues. Guess what Monday is for?

OMG tomorrow is my "prep" day. Who thinks up these torturous routines?

I will admit its better than it was even 2 years ago when the DH had his done. You used to drink that liquid stuff that left an after taste for a year. Yick, that stuff was nasty! Now they give you dulcolax in the AM and then at noon, you take miralax every 1/2 hour until the 2 week bottle is gone. 14 doses! This should be fun! :o

My tummy is so tender, so upset, so nauseous, and so unhappy that I cant even imagine how far over the edge this will take me.

So, as you are going about your Monday, say a lil prayer that I havent balled up into a corner sucking my thumb and crying. I am so nervous!

I am hoping to avoid that big surgery where they want to take out 3 to 4 feet of my intestine. I asked the GI guy to go look, and see what shape everything is in. I hope I can avoid surgery, or at least get some answers.

SallyC 12-06-2009 07:23 PM

Good luck with that, Dej...yucky and ouchy. I hope everything comes out all right.

Will be keeping you in my thoughts on Tuesday..

(((Dej))) Wishing you luck tomorrow on the prep and will keep you in my prayers on Tuesday. Let us know how you are doing when you can.

TwoKidsTwoCats 12-06-2009 09:02 PM

:hug:Dejibo:hug: I have one coming up soon too. Just a checkup one thankfully. Hope all goes well and you avoid surgery!

legzzalot 12-06-2009 09:07 PM

Oh no! Well, i will be thinking about ya as they are redoing all the kidney/liver/ bladder testing for me tomorrow... My mom just had to have the yucky colonoscopy...they made her drink the yucky stuff... I think she is still tasting it.

Good Luck tomorrow!

Might need one of these!

Dejibo 12-07-2009 07:53 AM

well, Monday is here! I dont mind Tuesday, as I am getting good drugs, and will be asleep for the thing. The endo I will be awake for, but its just a gagging festival. Even with numb spray, I gag. Then they will blissfully knock my fanny into la la land.

its today that has my nerves on end. I have taken my dulcolax tabs, and will start on the miralax soon. My tummy is already bloated, swollen and tender. This should make me cry. I am not looking forward to drinking this stuff, but am looking forward to hearing some answers. I have given my DH a list of questions to ask the MD when its all done. I hope I will be too dopey to care.

Thanks for the hugs and prayers, they really do mean alot.

May you be too dopey to care, as you said, but may it all give you the best possible answers.

ewizabeth 12-07-2009 09:54 AM

Aw Dej,

I hate that stuff too. I hope your tests will turn out ok and no surgery will be necessary.

DM 12-07-2009 02:54 PM

Hey Dej! Just had a routine endoscopy/colonoscopy the wk of Thanksgiving, so know how your'e feeling. I had to drink 1/2 gal of the Nulytly after taking 2Ducolax tabs. He also dilated my esophagus, as I was having a little trouble swallowing. I told my Dr before I was put out, that I didn't want to know where he was going or what he was doing. AYUP~ pure la la land. :p

Glad I had it done though, as he found a very small polyp and removed it.

Take care and and hope your results turn out ok.

Hi Dejibo,
Mine is scheduled for mid January, DH a week later. We have to drink two huge bottles of the same stuff that has always been around. No tablets, no enemas.

I always called this stuff a horse laxative. I thought things would change and that this drink I am to take, is not used anymore. I thought they said it was dangerous.

It's the stuff in the green bottle bought in the drug store or supermarket. I can't think of the name and the paper is out of reach at the moment.

Anyone here any news about the old stuff?

Good luck Dejibo. I pray everything is okay with the test, and the results.:)

Judy2 12-08-2009 03:07 AM

My thoughts and prayers will be with you today, Dej. Hope the prep wasn't too bad and the results of the tests will be positive! :)

Dejibo 12-08-2009 05:57 AM

Its Tuesday. I survived the Miralax bombardment. it really is better than it used to be. That stuff they used to have you drink was so violent! Miralax is more gentle. Dont get me wrong, you MUST poop, but its not the explosive, think you are gonna see your shoes stuff that the fleets drink brings.

I survived. I am not happy, but I survived, so the worst is over. Now I get to go lay down, and let someone give me drugs. I have not just bad, but horrific IV access. Lets see how many pokes this takes to get a line.

Thanks for all the hugs, prayers, and well wishes. you guys rock!

Hope everything goes well for you, Dej. Check in with us when you can once you're home. Prayers for you and DH being said.

ewizabeth 12-08-2009 11:56 AM

I hope everything went ok today Dej. With your DH too.

Dejibo 12-08-2009 02:27 PM

im home! all went well. I had 3 polyps, and no real issues past that. He took several nice celiac biopsies, and sent me home. I got good drugs, and woke quickly. I have tons of gas, but thats the name of the game.

Will know in a week or so what the biospsies say.

Thanks all!

Kitty 12-08-2009 03:28 PM

Glad you're safely home. I hope the biopsies all come back OK.

SallyC 12-08-2009 05:41 PM

I pray all the biops will come back negative for anything bad....Glad you are home.

What a pair you and DH will be in bed tonight.

NurseNancy 12-08-2009 07:32 PM

dej,

sorry i'm a bit late here. but, i will pray that all your results are normal and nothing invasive is in order.
 and thinking of you.

Lady 12-08-2009 09:46 PM

Last time I woke to gas pains too. They pump air in to see better. I went into their bathroom and stayed there for quite a while. It is painful unless you dispose of it. :o

I found the procedure easy, like you, I found the prep work more annoying.

Praying for a great report for you.
